Each table is unique, featuring natural cracks, knots, and color variations that highlight its sustainable, eco-friendly origins. ## Description

The elephant, or chang in Thai, is revered for its strength and gentleness. This is the larger version of our chang stool. A hand carved rendition supporting a round flat table surface. This hand carved elephant end table can also be used as a stool, a plant stand or phone...

## Features

- Deep Relief Carving — the pattern is cut into the standing mass of the log rather than applied to a surface, so the detail runs to real depth and casts its own shadow. The flat top keeps it useful as an end table while the carved body carries the piece visually.
- Cut From One Solid Log — the log is cross-cut, rough-shaped with a chainsaw, traced to pattern, then carved by hand into its finished form. There are no joints, no veneer and no composite core anywhere in it. The piece is solid timber from top to base, which is why it has real weight when you lift it and why the grain runs continuously around the whole form instead of stopping at a seam.
- Solid Monkeypod, Samanea saman — of the Fabaceae or bean family. It is sold in the United States as acacia, known in Thailand as Mai Jumjaree, and called rain tree or koa elsewhere. Different names, one wood. No lumber yard stocks it: the trees are cut to order and have to be rough-carved within weeks, or the timber dries and breaks up before anyone can work it.
- Finished With Osmo Wood Wax Finish Extra Thin — a plant-based oil built on soybean, sunflower and thistle oils with carnauba and candelilla waxes. It soaks into the timber instead of forming a film across it, so it cannot crack, peel, flake or blister the way a surface lacquer does, and it leaves the grain visible and open to the touch. Arrives fully assembled, with nothing to build.
- Every Piece Is Different — grain, knot placement, colour depth and small surface checks vary from one piece to the next and from the photographs. Checks are the drying cracks solid timber forms as it settles, and small filled repairs are made during finishing; both are properties of one-log construction, not faults. Carved in Thailand, and each piece carries the Haussmann H mark on its base.
