- love love love the format, I love looking through people's sketch books, hoping against hope that I could ever produce something so lovely myself.- fabulous stories that seem like you've actually been travelling with the author- it's been on my table for weeks now and I have picked up some lovely ideas about places to visit on my forthcoming trip to Venice

A lovely guide to Venice, beautifully illustrated with Matthew Rice’s beautiful drawings. It offers a very personal and curated view of this most beautiful of cities; covering everything from history and architecture, cuisine and places to visit. This isn’t a guidebook, so much as a wonderful distillation of the City into a sketchbook, filled with wonderful drawings and text, personal to the author. I bought this ahead of my visit to get me in the mood for my holiday, and it really did transport me there! A lovely little book.

I brought this as a present before a trip to Venice and enjoyed its beautiful pictures and interesting commentary, after the trip it has become a wonderful memory book. Would highly recommend as something different than your traditional guide book.

One of the most beautiful books I have ever bought. Can’t wait to visit Venice armed with this knowledge and insight. Matthew Rice is an artist, but also a writer with a style that is accessible and witty. Just buy it.

Not only a guide book but a reference book of pure joy. Intelligently written, beautifully illustrated and packaged as an easy to carry notebook. More of these please: Rome, Prague, Vienna, Paris…..for starters. I LOVE this book ❤️

I loved everything about this book. The sketches are amazing and I was pleasantly surprised by the excellent notes. Better than a travel guide, you can visualise Venice so clearly.
