Nice taste - Quick and easy to fix
I wanted to diversify my emergency foods and ran across bulgar. It’s a staple in Europe. It’s really tasty and easy to prepare. It reminds me of couscous.

This was delivered very near to the expiration date.
This is a very coarse ground wheat. It had no number on it to gauge which size the grain would be. Also, although I got it in 2022 the harvest date was in 2020. Expires in a few months so I will need to use it quickly! The taste was very good.

Pure Anatolia Organic Bulgur Wheat 35.2 oz.
Bulgur wheat has a wide-range of uses including as a side dish, cold salad, in soups and stews along with as a component in veggie burgers, etc. A product of Turkey, this 35.2 ounce organic variety arrived double wrapped and well-sealed. There are no cooking directions on the bag but it is an easy process. It can be prepared in a rice cooker or on the stovetop. For stovetop use 1 cup bulgur to 1 3/4 cup water or broth, bring to a simmer, cover and continue to cook on low heat for 10 minutes, turn off the heat and let sit covered for another 10 minutes. At this point all of the liquid should be absorbed but if not leave it for another couple of minutes then fluff with a fork and serve. It has a lightly sweet hearty flavor and soft grainy texture. When I opened the bag there was a slight rancid smell but I have encountered this with a number of grains that arrive packaged in small bags like this one rather than large bins in the local natural grocery store but the grain cooked-up with a delicious and fresh taste. To estimate shelf-life at the time of this review in October 2021 the expiration date is 12 months in the future but dates will vary.

Kids loved it!
Certified OrganicProduct of TurkeyExpiration 10/10/2022 (about a year from receipt of product)This was our first time cooking Bulgur Wheat so it would have been nice to have some cooking instructions on the package. However, a quick internet search later turns up several recipes. Based on the photos it appears that there are different sized Bulgur Wheat, fine, medium, and coarse. Each method had it's own way of cooking. By the way it looked I thought it was fine and went with the boiling water soaking method. It didn't fully absorb all the water and after making this a few times, this is the best way we have found to cook this.Take 2 cups of boiling water or chicken stock and pour it on top and let it sit for 10 minutes. Then pop it in the microwave for 2-3 minutes. Once done cover and let sit for another 10-12 minutes. Fluff and add some seasoning, salt, and some EVO or butter and it's done. It was so good our kids asked for seconds and given how picky our kids can be at times this is a win for us.Review For:

Tastes Good
I've only used Bulgur Wheat for Mediterranean salads, and that's how I used this particular bulgur wheat. I had to look on-line on how to cook it since instructions don't come with it. Some other reviewers said their wheat was rancid when they got it, but mine was fine. But, I'm keeping it in the freezer because it will take me a long time to use it all up. It has an expiration date of 10/22 and it's 10/21 now so it should be good for at least that long. I forgot to mention that it tastes really good, especially after adding some salt and seasonings.

Horrible!
This product came with a very strong plastic and chemical scent after opening package. I didn't even use and asked for credit. Don't bother.
