I'm a 38" waist, 29" inseam, and generally I buy 38" x 30" when buying pants. I saw all the reviews here about how they run too big or too small, so I was a little worried when ordering. I ordered a size XL, because generally that's the size of running shorts I order for exercise.The size XL fits my 38" waist almost perfectly. The inseam is of course way too long; I'll probably need to take them up about 3 inches to have them land correctly on my ankles. But I'd say that for myself, XL seems to be 38" waist, 32" inseam--though I don't know how much variation there is between pants.They are also a taper cut, which means it's more of a tailored look than other similar pants I've ordered. These pants do not have an elastic band, but they do have a draw string.Note too that they're a bit see through--not so much that it's painfully obvious what's going on, but enough so that you will want to either wear nude-colored underwear, wear thong style underwear, deal with the fact that your underwear is totally visible underneath these--or just dare to go commando and pretend nothing's up.

So I ordered a medium and a large based off some of the reviews. First off these pants are linen so it shouldn't be a surprise to everyone that they are a bit "see through". I purchased khaki; luckily I have nude colored briefs which you can still tell I'm wearing them but that doesn't bother me. For fit, this all depends on how you like your pants. Personally I like my pants on the skinnier side so I'm keeping the Medium, the Large were looser and I could take them off without unbuttoning. I am 5'9, 170 athletic build (range from 32-34 waist in pants depending the brand). I would say for convenience if you're usually between sizes order two different sizes, returning is simple. All over decent quality of linen pants without spending a fortune.~Will upload a photo when I wear them next week.

These are the "white" pants. fits as I expected. Not SUPER transparent im wearing black underwear, and you can't see them, unless you're REALLY close.
