Q: What is the numerical measure, in ounces, for your meaning of "heavy" ? I see "heavy" but the photo shows 3.5 oz marked. I'm looking for 5/16", 6 oz.

Heavy is 4.5oz. Next size is X-Heavy which is 6.5oz. So closest size for what you are looking for is 5/16”, 6.5oz (X-Heavy).

Q: What is the difference between these and regular clear bands?

These can be used as closing bands to close teeth gap and they can also be used for other purposes.

Q: Are you supposed to sleep with them on?

I'm sure the company would not recommend that, for safety reasons. However, I do. Not every night, but a few nights a week. I also wear them during the day when I have an upcoming photo shoot. Your teeth will grow apart if you stop wearing them for an extended length of time.
