These clips work fairly well on my roof and gutters though assembly is required. Also if left on the roof will become brittle over time and break especially if hit by hail. They have about a two year life.

We have been using this specific type of Christmas light clip for many years. The clips are easy to use, attach easily to gutters and hold the individual light bulbs in the same position... a must when you have OCD and the placement of each bulb must be identical. Our supply of clips has dwindled over time and we were unable to find these clips in retail stores. We tried several other types/brands of clips, but none worked as well as these. I was very, very happy to find them on Amazon! OCD me ordered extra!The only negative is that the clips arrive in a plastic bag with no instructions. Since we have used this type of clip before, we knew how they worked. The seller should include instructions as there is a small "U" shaped clip that needs to be snapped off and inserted into each side of a small tube. This creates a hinged "U" which allows you to adjust the position of the lights.

I purchased a box of these to clip decorative lighting to a 40-foot-long rain gutter. The box was packaged with 102 in the box, so after I had clipped two (2) packages of 50-count amps, there were two clips remaining. That's a nice margin of error in case the new buyer can't quite comprehend how these work. They seem lightweight, but are adequate to attach the LED-based C-series bulbs I was clipping. In that length of gutter, there was a bulb every five or six inches so any single clip didn't have a lot of work to do. Even so, once I attached two or three to an end, I was able to go to the opposite end of the light string without worry of clip damage or lights falling during the installation.These are the best price-performance I could find on Amazon, and for this use I would not buy the much more expensive "commercial" versions. These units snap apart to provide an angled clip for the bulb and they hold the bulb nicely and uniformly upright. It looks very pleasant at night, and I'm confident they will last at least one season, and the two spare clips might replace any that break for a second season.

I installed around six or seven strings of g40 lights in gutters around my patio. I had to break off the shingle part of the clip since it's intended to be permanent. The only caveat is that the plastic won't hold up forever and will break every year to year and a half if you live in a hot climate like I do (Houston). I've gone through a box of 500 in a little under 4 years. I doubt that there's a better product out there (tell me if there is) so expect there to be some maintenance along the way if you want them permanently mounted.

only reason it doesnt get 5 stars is because my bulbs are C9 and these clips nearly are too small for the bulb / bulb housing. they are stretched way beyond how far they are suppose to open up in order to hold the light housing. the product description states the C9 bulbs are supported, but in my opinion these clips are not adequately designed to fit the larger size of C9, im sure they will fit C7 fine though. outside that its a great design versus everything else ive used, great price overall, and does a great job of keeping the lights 99.5% all in a perfect row.my one suggestion is be careful putting them up. more than likely you would be putting them up in cold weather... i noticed that after moving them from inside the house in the boxes they started getting colder (it was 40 degrees when i put them up) the long they were outside and also more brittle. not really anything worth taking a star off because thats just the nature of plastic.overall a good buy and i like them quite a lot, just wish they were a bit larger to hold the C9 bulbs.

Sorry I dont have a close up picture; but these clips are great. I use them on C6 white lights that line the edges of my rooves. Very versatile clip. Clips on gutters, edges of shingles and can hold lights in a few different positions/angles. Every bulb on my roof is held perfectly upright by these clips for a professional and clean look. All my neighbors asked, "howd you do your roof like that?"I used 1500 of these for my house roof and oversized shed roof. Only negative is it was time consuming to break away universal light clip tab for my application. 1500 individual modifications.Tip: if you are using them like I used mine, place the open box in front of a heat source before breaking away plastic piece and inserting thru intended hole. Much smoother process with heated (softer) plastic.

These work great for gutters. The clip for shingles is good, but the piece that holds the wire is designed to be easily broken off and inserted into another part of the hanger to display bulbs upright. Not what I needed. Was hoping I could leave these up until the next year and hang the light strands with a long pole. The detachable piece did just that. So I had to climb up on the roof again. I'm glad I have these for the gutters. If you have to hang off shingles, I'd look for something else.

As I was looking at the clip, and wondering who could make such a crappy product, I realized it wasn't the product that had the problem, but it was me. I had ignored the small ringlet at the corner. The product is MEANT to be two piece, and the snap off piece has a small tapered tip that inserts into the outer corner hole and can rotate easily from gutter to shingle use. The product does work very well and is easier to insert into the shingles than the longer tabbed models found at most stores. Good product, just had to stare at it for a few minutes. Rescinded my negative review.Recommended for a lightweight, easy to use product.
