Koh-I-Noor GIOCONDA 8112 Hard Pastel Pencils for the Artist (Pack of 12)

These are quite hard with vibrant colors. The colors are incredibly true and beautiful. They leave a rather waxy surface and do not blend like softer chalk pastels.

I haven't actually used these pastels yet, but the colors are beautiful.

I gave these hard pastels to my 12 year old granddaughter along with other art supplies and sketch & drawing papers. She seemed very excited about them. I think it will be awhile before I find out how they work for her. They came packed well and in a timely manner.

I received these way quicker then expected, and was pleasantly surprised with the high quality. I only starting to learning to use pastels, but have tried a couple of brands and am very happy with these. They don't crumble like soft pastels, but still provide a lovely, intense color. Highly recommend!

Very hard. I didn't find them waxy per se other than the smooth outside finish. They do still lay down in a more dry form. These feel like chalkboard chalk but are highly pigmented. They are harder than Nupastel sticks and I feel like they would best be used with sanded paper rather than other pastel paper options. If you are looking for an alternative, Koh I noor also makes a soft pastel stick that is more like Nupastel in shape and consistency but I would say it is a bit softer overall.

Good value. Nice bright colours. I use this for detail in my pastel art work. Nice strong hard pastel. Nothing was broken although I would have liked a firmer plastic or harder cardboard packaging though the cardboard box was okay.
