Fix It In Foil Spiral-bound – May 1, 2007

I can remember, as a kid, making tin foil dinners over the hot coals of the camp fire. It was always the same one...hamburger and vegetables. I always loved it and it was my favorite camping food. Later in life I would learn that this is known typically as the "Hobo Dinner". I'm not a cook myself and I love simplicity and easy preparation when it comes to camping food. I've made these for my own family and they love them as well...but I always wondered if there were other simple little creations that could be made this way and be used primarily for camping. A quick search on Amazon and sure enough, there is a book about it. The book is great! It is a small spiral bound book that can be easily packed away for camping. It isn't a large hardbound tome...just a simple little book with some great ideas that are simplistic and easy to prepare. There are no pictures in the book and I don't think they are really needed...I mean come on...it is food in tin foil. Anyway, what the book has it simple recipes that gives you the items that you need to prepare the meal, directions that the most simple minded folk (like myself) can understand and it gives you three different types of cooking methods. Oven, campfire, and grill. It explains how you long you would cook it for each of the different circumstances. There is also a section for each item that provides additional variations of things you could add to the meals. The meal's recipe and directions are on the left side of the book and the cooking methods/variations are on the right. You have meals broken down into Breakfasts Main Dishes, Potatoes & Other Vegetables, Sandwiches, and Desserts. There is also a section dealing with "Foil Facts & Cooking Tips". There is some pretty interesting things to try and I've already marked a few to practice with. For someone like me, who is not a cook, looking for something simple and fun to make while camping...this is a great companion for our next wilderness adventure.

Bought 2 of these for friends with RVs and I think they enjoyed the idea of campfire cooking with foil packets. One couple had their 3 young grandkids out to the RV park to learn cooking over a campfire and another couple liked that they could enjoy the outdoors, rather than cooking inside the RV all the time. I like that these recipes encourage cooking with fresh foods rather than processed. And for preppers, why not make up some foil packs ahead of time, freeze them and then toss them on the fire when you're ready for a meal? Easy peasy!

I loved it so much that I bought another for a friend. Easy to do, explains exactly how without treating you dumb, and explains oven/grill/campfire directions. Really enjoy the add-ons to each recipe that they give. It gives more options. Also not many ingredients to fumble with. They even tell you how to pre-set your ingredients at home before your trip. I would highly recommend this to any & everyone! Yes, I will be buying more!!! BEST book I've EVER bought for camping!

This is a great book for RVing. I have fix five recipes in it. So far only one we didn't like. So easy to fix and cook. My husband said we will have to have this more often. I made them up a head of time at home. Froze some. So when we go camping just throw them on the grill and your ready to eat in a few minutes. You can enjoy talking with other campers while your food is cooking. I can't say enough about this book.

Book is really good I’m just disappointed it was damaged looks like it got wet. It was packed properly so damaged must have happened before packaging. Like I said before book is really great with good information

So many practical recipes that you can make on a campfire, grill or oven. I say practical because you use common ingredients in these recipes. Why wait for a campfire? Use these recipes now!

This book was an Easy to use cook book for every one who cooks anywhere! There is Breakfast, Lunch and diner. (I am from the South) This book keeps everything you need to see on two pages that can be placed in eye site while you are getting the food ready. This book is a must for anyone who Cooks!!

This book is wonderful. Very well done. Reminds me of my childhood camping trips with my class. Only complaint is the cheap flimsy binder it's held together with. Mine arrived twisted and broke which damaged my book. Guess I'll have to hole punch each page and slip it into a binder.

Great book and a good mix of different foods..

Interesting information and recipes. We are keeping this in the travel trailer for camping.

Cheap tatty book only a few decent recipes

So many things to cook in foil packets.Great for camping and hiking.
