RAK Ceramics New Slimline RAKSEAT014 Quick Release Soft Close WRAP Over Toilet SEAT for Series 600

Bought as a replacement for the original bottom fixed seat on my 10 year old RAK toilet. The hardest part was removing the original seat as the wing nuts underneath were very difficult to remove having been on for so long (WD40 vital) and I had to lay on the floor to do it. This new seat is made of much sturdier plastic and feels much better quality than the original although it's what I would call winter white in colour, not quite as white as the ceramic. It's very easy to fit but, as others have commented, does take an awful lot of tightening to stop it working loose after a few days. Took me a couple of goes and a lot of elbow grease to get it to stay put but seems okay now. It's easily removed for cleaning by just pressing a button, which makes it much more hygenic. A definite upgrade to the original and makes the loo look like new again!

The seat was good quality and reasonably priced. The only fault was the instruction label that was glued to the underside of the lid. It was easy to remove the label but the adhesive was a nightmare to get off. I tried a variety of cleaners and in the end used a bladed scraper to carefully remove the glue, without scratching the lid, that took about half an hour.

The seat came packed like the crown jewels and oozed quality but I've docked a star for what I think are poor fitting instructions - a series of drawings with no text. A quick visit to YouTube resolved all the fitting issues and the penny dropped that the seat fitted from the top of the pan. All previous loo seats I'd fitted involved tightening the fixing from underneath the pan. Once I realised it fitted from the top, installation was straightforward and quickly completed. I particularly like the quick release function where the seat can be removed from the fittings at the press of a button making cleaning so much easier
