THE MUM WHO GOT HER LIFE BACK

A funny, light read
The book is quite funny and a nice, heartwarming tale overall. My review is more for how the book arrived - wrapped perfectly in cling film! Such a rarity to see sellers taking care of their books...I was getting used to receiving slightly damaged copies from some of the larger sellers. But SP Books has done a great job! Slight marking on the spine but that’s okay :)

An easy read
The story was exactly what the title said. Nadia's twins left for college, her ex was busy with shooting his movies and girlfriend, now it was her time to live her life. The empty nest syndrome became her freedom where she met Jack a single father, and life started looking up for her in the romance department too. Till one twin Alfie popped home and stayed there, and mum title took over the girlfriend one.Fiona Gibson's started off fine. It was humorous, gave me a chuckle or two till Alfie dominated the mother's thoughts and life. Quite a sanctimonious bub he was!! I would have kicked him out had he been found lazing around on my couch!! Never understood why main character Nadia pandered to her son's needs more than the daughter's who was hardly there. The story went through the routine lanes with the characters revealing their past only in the end. All of them played their parts. Nothing really pulled me in the book. I read and forgot it instantly, except I still want to bop Alfie one!! And I am generally peace loving!!Overall, the book was a quick read, done in a couple of hours. On to my next!!

For a light and ridiculous read
For a fluffy read about an enmeshed mother and clueless dads who can’t get their crap together. Boy meets girl, boy loses girl, and they reunite after ridiculous and formulaic plot turns.

Warm, funny and so true to life of us fiftiesh mums
I loved this book, as usual Fiona writes her characters with realism and fun. I recognised so many situations from my own life with my ex-teenager.There is a good story line and brilliant to read something based in Glasgow too.One of those books you have to have yet another cuppa and keep on reading.Great stuff

Don't miss this book!
Just a REALLy good book! Great story and lifelike, loveable characters. I enjoyed it totally, it was difficult to put down as I just wanted to keep seeing what was going to happen next.I don't like the "laugh out loud" comments which are attributed wrongly to so many books - this wasn't really a "laugh out loud" type of book, more a "lots of smiles" and a huge feel-good feeling.I'd definitely recommend this book 100%.

A relaxing fun read
Maybe the ending is predictable but the characters in the book and their dialogue are wonderfully crafted. As the book indicates, empty nesters are no longer parents prowling around the empty rooms of their houses feeling abandoned and useless when their offspring leave home. There is a life out there and in this story the main character, Nadia, grabs the opportunity of living it to the full. There are highs and lows in relationships which are all so easy - and sometimes funny - to identify with. A really lovely, amusing and touching book.

Funny and Relatable
A true to life, very funny story about Nadia and Jack, struggling along in the newly empty nest of home. I always enjoy Fiona's books, she writes with such wit, wisdom and real life experience. You get a fun read that's highly relatable and this one is no different. I loved the fact that we get to have the story told from both perspectives too (Jack and Nadia). Very clever. Full marks and a huge recommend.
