I bought this set to help strengthen my hands, which have grown very weak due to decades of carpal tunnel syndrome related mostly to office work. I chose this one because most kits only offer 4 levels of stiffness, while this one added extra soft and extra, extra soft - I knew I needed something VERY easy to start with. I've only had the kit for a few weeks, so time will tell about progress, but those two "extra" soft ones are where I do 90% of my work - I couldn't have started with the one labeled "soft." This putty is so satisfying - it came with instructions for various exercises, and I do them all, but also my hands just *want* to work the putty while I'm watching TV. It doesn't feel like work, it feels like play. I am careful not to allow it to contact clothing or pillows, based on some reviews I saw before I bought it. And it does seem to leave my hands maybe slightly oily? But not in an unpleasant way. Also last night my husband swore the medium one I was using smelled like Jack Daniels, so I don't know what to do with that. All that being said, I highly recommend the kit. Great product, especially for the low, low price.

I like the range of stiffness that this pack comes with as well as the exercise insert and the container the 4 small cups come in so they can be stored collectively. I found this to be reasonably priced and the volume of putty in each container is the perfect amount to use in one's hand. I love that it doesn't leave a film or residue on my hands after using. Good suggestions in the insert but it is always wise to do specific exercises directed by your surgeon if you are under one's care, as is my situation. The only reason I give this 4 instead of 5 stars is I have not advanced through all of the putty yet so I cannot appreciate the gradual benefit in graduating from soft through firm, if there is one. I would recommend this to anyone who might benefit from hand therapy.

I bought this putty after I noticed I was losing grip strength and had some early signs of carpal tunnel (I work a desk job, so it's not surprising). This putty is excellent for working on your grip strength. It comes with four different levels of resistance: extra-soft, soft, medium and firm. Extra-soft is roughly the same level of resistance as dollar store silly putty. You can feel the difference with each level; the firm is very much a hand workout. The putty is very clean and doesn't leave residue on your hands. I use the putty every work day and spend about 10-20 minutes playing with it each day (5-10 mins in the morning; 5-10 mins in afternoon). The container includes a sheet with 12 different hand & finger exercises you can do, so you can mix it up. The extra-soft is great for warming up and getting your muscles stretched and moving before using some of the higher resistance putty. This putty is well done and would be useful for all ages and situations. Highly recommend.

This is the brand recommended by my physical therapist. She had me do some exercises to help regain some muscle strength in my hands. She originally started me on the soft/GREEN color, which I did but I also used the x-soft/orange for one of the finger exercises. I'm on medium/BLUE now. In the office I noticed she had the firm/PURPLE on her desk that she uses for herself. Examples of exercises: 1. Forming a ball then clenching the ball with fingers and palm. 2. Forming an elongated ball and clenching that with fingers only. 3. Pulling apart the putty with both hands 4. Squishing the putty between my fingers. I would do this while watching TV or Youtube and sometimes my husband would steal it from me and sculpt things like Play-doh. The putty holds its form while you are working with it - it's not like Nickelodeon's Gak. When you're done using it, it takes on the shape of the container again - it's more fluid than Play-doh. The quality of the putty is nice. It hasn't dried out - I always put it away after doing my exercises. The colors are appealing. I would recommend washing your hands before use and making sure there isn't lint. I don't know how sweat would affect the material, but I did use the putty a few times on a hot day and it seems to be okay still.

I recently had surgery for carpal tunnel release, and the instructions from my doctor or shoddy at best. However, the discharge instructions included exercises that required putty. I have been reading as much as possible about the procedure. I was fearful because I read that many people don’t regain grip strength until a year after. Because I did not know what kind of putty it meant. I came on Amazon and found this as FSA eligible. I decided to buy it and could not be more happy with my decision not only did the product come with six different resistance levels. The instructions also came with very clear photos, and a QR code to scan that also give instruction for other injuries or therapeutic meet with videos and clear instructions on what product to use. It was very straightforward to learn, and even though I don’t have a follow up appointment with my doctor for a week I am confident in my recovery and I’m feeling a difference in my grip strength and dexterity as well.

Good stuff, good assortment, I’ve used this type of putty since the ‘90’s. Works all muscles involved unlike springs which have one plane of pull. I’ve been a medical massage therapist for 15 years and helps me continue my work.

I recently broke my wrist, and my physio recommended getting some physio putty, I found these online and like he suggested I went for a set with various strengths. I started off with the xx soft just squeezing and rolling my strength is already starting to improve and have now started using the x soft and have incorporated the stretching between 2 fingers. I appreciate the exercises included which are exactly as my physio recommended for me. I still have pain but it is slowly reducing and keeping my hand as flexible as my injury allows. I'm looking forward to the day I can start using the firm but at the moment it's a long way off. I find myself reaching for this set when watching the tv, even my good hand benefits from this set preventing cramps. I'm hoping it will help to also prevent arthritis. I was surprised when first starting that the xx soft felt hard for me to do but that's just because my hand was so weak, I do compare between my good hand and my weaker hand but I have found that now I can handle a soda can much easier than before. I do need to persevere but with this excellent set and a little but often attitude I'm sure my hand will get to where it was before I injured it.
