Have the IMEI code ready to give to the customer service rep
First of all. I've been using a jet pack for many years. I do not have a laptop but have a second desktop computer at another personal location. I like that. The current jet pack was nearing the end of its usefulness and just paid for it. The battery was losing its up time. Need more recharging time. I looked on the Verizon wed site and jet packs I like were out of stock. I look on Amazon and found this one. I thought I had ordered the device with the sim card and it came with one. So, I had to order a sim card. Which I did. A Verizon sim card. I called Verizon to activate the device and the customer service person cautioned me about buying a jet pack from Amazon. Reporting of operational issues. Now, since I did not get a sim card (5g)with this I had to give the sim card identification number for the activation to be completed. From the sim card box. Keep it. So far, after a week ok. A little slow, perhaps where I live for a signal but reliable. Connectivity is better and not hard to use. Sim card is inserted on the side of the jetpack and not under the battery.

Great replacement of in like kind for jet packs.
Plug and play. My sim worked just fine in this new jet pack. Started it and let it run a couple of minutes and it worked.

Novatel 7730L is NOT a 5G Hotspot
The 7730L is an awesome 2G, 3G, and 4G LTE Hotspot providing great access speeds in VZW's network. Seller mentions that it's 5G, but that refers to 5ghz WIFI speed. I've had three of these Vzw pucks serving ipcams at remote properties for several years and have had only a few issues with them. That said, the 7730L is obsolete. You can still use them and replacement parts are still widely available. My issue is that you can't leave it charging even at .5 amps (500mah) or the battery will double in size and disable itself. I tried using a timer to have the charger kick in every few hours and my 7730's randomly kick off and back on, right into charge/offline mode. Great hotspot with great battery life, speed and connectivity. However, the 7730L was designed for travelers and that's what it excels at.

Components had to be replaced to operate the unit
The battery was warped. Had to purchase another battery which was $38. The SIM card had to be replaced thankfully no charge for the new SIM card at Verizon. Unit was fine after replacing those two components.
