Lockey USA2500SN Surface Mount Hook Bolt Keyless Lock for Sliding Doors Silver

My parents' home has a large sliding patio door with an aluminum frame. We never received the key for the built in bolt from the previous owners. For 30 years, we could only lock the door from the inside. After my mom started having mobility issues and the sliding door was the easiest way to enter the home, I began looking for a way to lock the sliding door from the outside so my dad wouldn't always have to lock or unlock the sliding door for her after going in and out of their side entrance. This was the only lock I could find that would work, especially since we didn't have much space on the frame to mount this on.It just barely fit onto the frame and it took my dad and I about 4 hours to get this mounted and working properly but IT WORKED! Now, they can enter/exit from this door and it's really easy to use so they love it. Plus, they don't need a key! I am really grateful for this product because it's been *30 years* of wishing we could lock the sliding door from the outside. This bolt created a very happy ending in my family!

We would have like to use this on our standard Pella sliding vinyl patio door. Unfortunately the outside portion of the unit is too wide to properly fit the door and would leave a gap on the side where the glass is. Product description does not indicate which doors are compatible. On the plus side if it does fit the ability to set 4 digit or 6 digit combination provides great security options. However, changing the combination requires complete removal of the lock and the instructions. Changing does not appear difficult but does have specific method which must be used - so keep the instructions if you want to change the combo.

Good quality. Well made. Coding is primitive. Recoding is hard, you have to take apart and reinstall again! Instruction is not good. I could do better. Only keyless I found that is surface mount. Adjusting the latching part accessory is difficult. Good instruction could help prevent returns. Purchased 3 returned ones and installed on my 3 sliding doors.

This is a great, heavy duty lock for a variety of applications. One thing to note, the alignment between the lock and receiver has to be almost perfect for the lock to work smoothly. This part of the install can be a bit frustrating and time consuming depending how/what you are installing it on.

Review title: HUGE UPGRADEThis lock was worth every penny , I used it for a vinyl sliding glass door , it was easy enough to install for my Handyman who had never seen a lock of this type , he was able to install this onto my door , he explained it did not fit exactly perfect it does hang off side of door frame by 1/4” this is not an issue for meThe door locks by code and is 200% better than using the traditional type sliding door lock

Kind of a beast to install. Also aesthetically it is designed that you will see the hook on the side not latching to lock when the lock is in an unlocked state. Just odd looking and wish I had realized.

Excellent quality, heavy duty. Some skills need it for installation.I definitely recommend this product.
