... race" and be able to open up a business like a coffee shop
Doesn't everyone want to one day leave the "rat race" and be able to open up a business like a coffee shop? I thought I had an idea how to start off if I wanted to start a coffee shop but I had no idea how in-depth you need to be to get into the business until I got this book. The Coffee Boys' guide really preps you and makes you think of building a strategy for success before you even think of getting equipment or planning out a spot. Are you primarily a coffee-house, coffee-bar, or stand? What are the best place to "break ground" for each? When serving food, are you an expert at every item on the menu (you need to be)? Ex: sandwich. What kind of lettuce are you using and what is the tacticle feel of the crunch? Does it match with the meat? The bread type? Freshness? Sourcing all the items? Etc. etc.Highly recommended.

great book but written from a UK perspective
If you have the ability look past the fact that this is written from the perspective of an operator in the UK and apply these theories and suggestions to practical differences in the US then this book is great. I picked up some great points that we were able to apply to development of our first store in the US . . . thank you !

A lot of common sense
Worthwhile reading, if only as a reminder what you will be up ahead, however, if all this is new to you, you should not start a coffee business.

Read this before opening your shop!
Recommended for those opening a food shop, not necessarily a coffee shop. Lots of info on things you don't think about before opening.

Three Stars
It's a good overview, but not the nuts and bolts I was seeking.

Very good intro book, written for anyone thinking of or just starting their own cafe
I highly recommend this book if you are thinking about starting up a cafe or coffe shop. It's written by people who have done it themselves and they share very good basic information about what you need to think about and do.You get good quality information, down to earth examples and suggestions on what to do. They are very good to point out that running a successful cafe is not just about making nice coffee!

I'm a coffee boys fan, and read all their stuff. It is very hard turning over a decent profit in a small cafe or coffee shop business if you are struggling then this is the book for you. Full of helpful pointers, advice and ideas to implement in order to make your cafe business more efficient and organised and more importantly help generate more cash.

Excellent
They don't tell you what kind of fridge you'll need nor what the colour of your walls should be but really what's the attitude and work methods you'll need to have to make your business efficient and profitable.I'd highly recommend to buy it with the one from Jill Sutherland cause that one is about the fridges you'll need and what coffee machine brand is best...
