A Lot of Power In a Two Band Rig
It's a "Super" Carbine alright. It's very light, powerful, and it handles well. The accuracy is good. I don't know how much the bands will loosen up over time, but it is a hard cock right out of the box. You definitely have to know how to cock a speargun to use it. You won't be grabbing the bands with your thumb and a couple of fingers on this one like some of the light action guns. I do best with three fingers positioned all the way back by the steel catch part of the band and pulling back with a very slight spreading action on the steel. You definitely need some kind of chest pad or you will wind up with a sore chest after a couple of cocks. I'm a five foot, 11 inch man who works out in the gym several times a week, and the first few cocks on this rig got my attention. I don't think shooters shorter than 5'-10" would do well with this speargun. If my arms were much shorter, I wouldn't do well with it either. But at 5'-11", it a perfect fit. The good news is that this gun can really throw a shaft. It may do 20 feet range accurately after the bands loosen up a bit, but will definitely be good for 15 foot shots every time. The line is pretty light, and I'll be upgrading it for use on larger fish. The trigger is a little stiffer than I'm used to in a more expensive speargun, but it doesn't effect accuracy. It's a very good gun for the price. I recommend it as an entry level speargun for anyone willing to do a little pulling on the bands.

A proven reliable product for me for years.
Forgot my JBL carbine at home when I went to Florida for the winter. Price was better than the local pawn shop for used! JBL makes a great product! Even came with the double barbed speartip. I've had my other JBL for many years. I got the super carbine and I'm using it on small fish and the gun is so powerful the whole spear and anchor base for the line on the spear goes right through the fish sometimes. Point is its powerful.

Horrible !!
Horrible design! Ruined my vacation!! Myself and two other guys with me, tried to cock this gun. The notches on the shaft are so far down and close to the handle it was impossible to pull the bands all the way down. Couldn’t get one band loaded, let alone two. Shorter bands and notches 6-8 inches further up the shaft.

Wish someone or the seller posted this before purchase
Well.....haven’t had a speargun or boat for the past few years. Picked this up based on the price and a last minute trip to the keys. Three major dislikes for me (but the price...-I kept it) was the handle feels like a kids toy. The spear tip is sharp, however very bulky (will try to replace at the local shop, and the line clip (near the handle for rigging it) is not there. I guess they want you to slide it in a narrow space, which works but I have yet to use to see if it catches or slows it. I will update after use as well. Had I known about the “line clip” or whatever it’s called, and really cheap handle I probably would have went with a different gun. But the double bands, length of the gun and price got me. So we will we. PS handle grip feels like a cap gun....hopefully it holds up. Get what you pay for. $122 well spent, will sell it for $60 later and upgrade. Cheers!

Hard to Load
Great price and quality. Double bands are very hard to load, and I am a big strong guy! Hoping they loosen up a bit. Add more line for longer distance shots.

Great gun
Great gun for the price. It was in perfect working order when I got it. The bands where pretty hard to pull back the first time but they got easier after used a bit. A powerful gun for the price.

Awful retrieval line
Gun works fine, except the retrieve line is awful. The design doesn't hold tight to the gun and often comes loose in the water creating a dangerous floating line that gets caught on everything. Stay away due to the retrieve line design being unsafe

Five Stars
Love it! It works great. The bands are pretty tough but it slings that spear lightning quick.
