I have carpet, so sliding and grip wasn't a problem. When I actually tried it, I was surprised by how reliable it felt. I'm tall and on the heavier side, but it didn't feel like I was going to fall through. Also there is a lot of potential to bounce very high. It depends on how you hold your weight on it. Sometimes you can bounce gently if you feel like a lower impact workout, even without your feet leaving the surface of the trampoline, like bouncing in place. Or you can bounce really high and come completely off of it. It's very versatile. I got the 48" because I was paranoid about it being too narrow and falling off but the 40" would have been just fine. I underestimated how stable this thing is lol.
