Delicious Ethiopia Sidamo Single Origin Coffee from Bean & Bean
I've sampled quite a few Ethiopian coffees and this Ethiopia Sidamo Single Origin Coffee from Bean & Bean has some unique qualities that make it far and away my favorite of all that I've tried. Sidamo is a region of southern Ethiopia that's mostly made up of fertile highlands. Thanks to plenty of rainfall, an optimal climate and rich, volcanic soil, Sidamo has the perfect conditions for growing coffee. That's all in evidence in the high quality of this coffee. After grinding the coffee beans fine for an espresso machine, they had an unusually strong floral aroma that filled the kitchen. Once brewed, the coffee had a relatively thin crema that nevertheless was long-lasting in the cup. Ethiopian sourced coffees tend to be somewhat lighter in flavor, making up for it with an unusually elegant quality that's reminiscent of Jamaica Blue Mountain and Kona, Hawaii sourced beans. This Ethiopian is still an elegantly flavored light to medium roast coffee but it is unusually complex in its characteristics. It has a pleasantly astringent and slightly smoky quality, not unusual in coffees grown in volcanic soil. What struck me immediately upon tasting - what I really love about this coffee - is its intense lemon citrus flavor coupled with an underlying honeyed sweetness. Because of its complexity, this coffee also features notes of chocolate, caramel and crisp white wine. It has a strong floral quality as well. There's a slight acidity that I find refreshing but the coffee is still easy on the stomach. Caffeine levels are moderate: this is a good breakfast or late-afternoon energy pick-me-up. I've sampled several of Bean & Bean's coffees and I've enjoyed them all. But this one is my favorite. It ticks all of the boxes for me and I strongly recommend that you sample it. It really is that good.

Fresh and Great Tasting
The Bean & Bean Ethiopia Sidamo Single Origin Coffee my husband and I like. The bag of 12-ounce whole bean coffee shipped well with no tears or leakage at all. It's the kind of bag you tear open and can reseal with it with zip-type top.The bag I got has a sticker on the bottom that reads "Roasted 8/21/21 and best by 11/17/2021.We have prepared this french press method after grinding the beans by hand. I must stay it is a truly wonderful smelling and tasting blend, I can pick out the jasmine, honey, and smidge lemon when smelling and tasting. It isn't a dark blend but more on the light side. It isn't the smoothest but it tastes good as-is. I wouldn't recommend adding sugar or creams to it but that's my own personal opinion. The coffee isn't really bitter and it doesn't give me heartburn or mess with my stomach at all as some blends can. For this I'm thankful.I feel the price is fair for the amount received and the exceptionally good taste! Recommended.

medium roast, 100% Sidamo arabica beans, winey acidity, complex flavor w/ floral, fruity notes
This Bean & Bean coffee is a medium roast that is smooth and medium-bodied, with a wine-like acidity and a complex flavor with fruity and floral and notes.I like that the company is committed to fair trade. The beans are single origin, grown at a high altitude and sourced from Ethiopia, which is highly respected in the specialty coffee industry. They are specifically from Sidamo, a major coffee growing region in southern Ethiopia, and the well-known Yirgacheffe sub-region is within Sidamo. The bag has a label on the bottom of the bag with both the roast date and the best by date. The label on the front also reveals the country of origin, bean variety, how the beans are processed, and the altitude where the beans were grown. The only info that I might want that isn't revealed is the original harvest date. Overall, this is superior coffee, and the company is proud of its excellent sourcing and methods and so is very transparent, which is great.

Dark & Bitter, and Not Particularly Flavorful
This coffee by Bean & Bean is fine, but I think the packaging is a bit misleading. I don't see it listed anywhere, but I'd consider it a medium-dark roast. It has a medium body with a bitter bite. The flavors I most prominently pick up are toast, mushrooms (dirt), and char. I don't dislike it, but I just don't taste the jasmine, lemon, and honey listed in the products description. For someone who is looking for a lighter, more flavorful coffee, this will be somewhat disappointing. Perhaps a French press would bring out more flavors, but I'd definitely recommend this coffee to somewhat looking for a bolder bite. It's not a bad coffee by any means, I just don't think it's represented properly by that advertising. So if you like a darker coffee, give this a try. If you want something with a lot more aroma and flavor, you wont get it here. Try one that's listed as a "light roast" instead.

Crafty, tasty, indeed delicious coffee; just a bit expensive
This "Bean & Bean Ethiopia Sidamo" (12oz whole beans) is indeed delicious; great quality coffee beans, and fantastic roasting. End result is a full flavored, complex, long finish, and smooth coffee. When making espresso out of it, the crema is perfect, golden, and creamy. I enjoyed this both as espresso shots, or in lattes/cappuccinos, and I even enjoyed it as affogato (espresso shot poured over vanilla icecream, as a dessert).Single origin, fair trade certified, sustainable, and organic. Beans are from Ethiopia, and they were roasted in USA, to be precise, in Little Neck, Queens, NY. Pretty much a boutique coffee product. The only issue with this is that it is a bit pricy. You only get 12oz of it for $17, which comes out to almost $23 a lb. Definitely not cheap, so the "value" department is a little lacking. This is probably worth your try, as an once in a while indulgent.Thank you for reading this review, I hoped that this review & the pictures are helpful to you in support of your purchase decision.
