It's not an essential oil
The oil unlike an essential oil is sticky and oily. Its got no smell but seems to be only a greasy carrier oil itself.Essential oils are sharp with no oily residue but this is neutral with castor oil consistency. Such a bad product. Do not waste money on it.

Great multi purpose oil
Brahmi or Bacopa monnieri is an important herb in Ayurveda tradition in India.Brahmi oil is a powerful anti oxidant and I’ve found it great for my flaking scalp/ sebhoric dermatitis which leaves my scalp sore, flaky and generally uncomfortable. The oil has helped to moisturise my scalp, help with the itching and strengthening my follicles that have become week due to the constant scratching. The oil can be used all over on the skin. I have dry skin especially on my legs snd I’ve found it a good moisturiser. It can be used as a carrier oil for aromatherapy or as a moisturiser on its own or mixed with other oils which I sometimes do.The oil has up to a 3 year shelf life but I don’t worry about that as I’d have long gone through it by then!I’ve tried a few of the Greenwood lines and I’d say I’m pretty pleased with most. You get a 50ml bottle in a sealed box which includes a stopper if you chose to use it, but I tend to pour my oils in plastic nozzles bottles as I find they dispense the oil more readily. All in all very pleased.I hope you found this review helpful

Hair care and skin care oil . Powdered or infused leaf in another carrier?
While I’m delighted to have a chance to try a carrier oil which is completely unknown to me, I continue to have reservations about the company for several reasons. One of which is this claiming of ‘Therapeutic Grade’ This is a pure marketing ploy, as such a external, regulated grading does not exist (and the companies I trust don’t make claims which cannot be verified because there is no standards body for this criteria – unlike say trades regulatory bodies with ISO standards, soil association for organics, etc etc. Now, I went off and did my research on this one as I waited for it to arrive. Greenwood get a tick for identifying the botanical naming, as there are two plants called ‘Brahmi’ which are completely different plants, from unconnected plant families. One, which I know, is Gotu Kola, Centella asiatica, which many in the West may be familiar with, but this one is Bacopa monnieri. Both are used in Ayurvedic medicine. There is much interesting research on Bacopa, as I discovered, but most of its benefits are highly unlikely to translate to use of the plant as an infused (more later) plant in a carrier. It is the leaf which is used herbally – ingested, hopefully under the guidance of a qualified medical herbalist, in order to produce positive effects on brain chemistry. Under guidance as there are contraindications with certain conditions and prescribed medications. These benefits (and challenges) would be highly unlikely with external application of the infused leaf in another cold pressed oil. Because the plant part used in this is the leaf, and leaves do not contain fats, all the research I’ve done seems to suggest this is NOT ‘cold pressed carrier oil of Bacopa’ but infused/macerated Bacopa in another cold pressed oil. Its SEEDS which contain fats – or Nuts, which are of course seeds from which new plants germinate. I see another method is to gently heat other carrier oils with the leaf powder and strain to removed any solids. Classic oils used with this are coconut or sesameSo, what is this greenish bluish maceration like. It absorbs pretty well, feeling smooth and emollient on the skin. It has anti-inflammatory properties in skin care, and this would suggest it would be useful for eczema, psoriasis and generalised itching, Brahmi is also a star ingredient for haircare, especially where the hair is particularly dry – or there is scalp psoriasis or dandruff – but can also be applied to the ends of the hair. I would use it sparingly like I sometimes use argan – rubbing a few drops on my hands, and then applying to the hair ends, and combing through to towel dried hair.I must say I LOVED the feel of this on my hands. We are all endlessly soaping up our hands. Proprietory hand creams to my mind take a bit of an age to absorb, Just putting a couple of drops of this onto the palm of one hand, and then lightly massaging my barely oiled hands together, I was amazed at how quickly they became nourished but not oily – again, very similar to arganHowever - the 3 year shelf life this company gives its carriers made my eyebrows raise a bit. Carrier oils do tend to have a much shorter shelf life than essential oils, and even though this is just for external use only, so any 'rancidity' would not matter so much as if consumption were happening, still...

Scentless oil traditionally used on the hair and scalp.
This is a large bottle of oil, it can be used as a carrier oil or as a moisturiser in its own right. It is scentless and allows the essential oil you use it with to be the star of the show scent wise.It is also traditionally used as a hair and scalp tonic:Brahmi oil is a natural substance used in Ayurveda, the traditional medicine of India. Typically massaged into the scalp, it is made from extracts of the herbs bacopa monnieri or gotu kola and is usually combined with sesame oil or coconut oil. Proponents claim that brahmi oil can treat certain health conditions, including alopecia areata, as well as improve hair and skin.I have used it on my hair and have been pleased with the results, it leaves it soft and shiny and nourishes my dry ends.Used on my skin it soaked in, leaving no greasy residue and made my skin soft and smooth.

like this oil
I wasn't familiar with Greenwood Essential before but I am happy with this oil. This is a large sized 50ml bottle that comes packed in a card outer box (which you can recycle). It comes with a handy dropper built in so you have a lot of control over how much you use. I am really happy that it is vegan and cruelty free - so no animal testing or animal derived ingredients. The price of around a tenner isn't too bad considering the volume of the bottle.
