Just know it's going to smell for a while
I've used bamboo rugs for a while now, but had never gotten a dark finish one, and thought I'd give this a try. It's a great rug. I mean, it's a bamboo rug, and they're all pretty much alike. But just after this one arrived, I had the box standing up in the living room while I cleared the old rug out, and I noticed it: the smell. I couldn't figure it out at first, as all the windows were open, and it smelled like some sort of electrical/machinery/weird smell, so I thought it was coming from outside. Then I took the rug out. Whew! I realized the smell was coming from the rug. It was not noxious, but definitely noticeable. I would definitely recommend taking the rug out of the box outside, and leaving the rug unrolled on a porch or in the garage or somewhere for a few days. It did finally dissipate, but it really took a while. Other than that, it's a good quality rug. I don't know if the lighter finish would smell the same...maybe it's something in the dark finish?? So just expect it and deal accoringly. We're finally enjoying it. I always love the feel of bamboo underfoot, as we go barefoot in the house nearly all the time.

great value
I don't write a lot of reviews, but I have been nothing but pleased with this matt. The linoleum in my kitchen has some bad spots where the surface is damaged. I know i will have to replace it at some point, but this matt has been the perfect solution; until that happens. It cleans easily sweeps off nicely or vacuum it, I have also found it helps keep dirt from spreading to the rest of the house, I live in a part of the country with sandy soil so it gets every where easily. In addition my kitchen chairs slide across the matt with no problem. There is a bit of funky smell from the matt, when you get it; I believe from the finish the put on the bamboo. It would not prevent me from getting it again. I probably will at some point order another one for my living room. BTW it seems to stay in place and lays down well.

Not for heavy furniture
Yes, there is an odor with these. Nothing febreeze and my air purifiers couldn’t handle. However, I have two of these under furniture. One under my dining room table and one under my couch. I’ve had them for over a month and the weight of the furniture has caused the corners to turn upwards causing my iRobot to not be able to vacuum properly under these pieces of furniture. I will most likely be replacing them with regular area rugs in the near future and tacking these up on a wall for a quick rental wall change.

Pretty, but 5 months later it has splinters and corners are turned up
I bough this for under our dining table set on August 29, 2020. At the beginning yes there was a smell which went away after a couple of days of airing. It laid flat at the beginning whereas now all the corners are turned up (I think moisture shrunk/distorted the wood?) - it started happening around a month or two ago. It did get moderate use as food would spill over it and also some liquids, since a toddler also uses the dining area. Most importantly, one slat is badly broken and the rug has splinters in several places now (I think front the friction with the chairs - which do have those scotch protectors on their legs). Overall, it was a cheap rug, but it is very stylish. I'd say buy if for a barely used indoor area, maybe a tv room or something. If you expect to have a lot of traffic on the rug and usage out of it, please avoid. It only looked good for about three months for me.

Looks great, smells bad
I really like the look of this bamboo floor mat! Like other reviewers, I found it to smell very strong and very bad when it arrived. I aired it for a couple of days before laying it down on the floor, but continued to smell for at least a month or more. It has already developed several worn spots and several cracks. I hoped it would would look good for longer than a few months. It is beautiful, but isn't lasting long.

Look of hardwood, flexibility of a rug
We needed a flat surface for an ad hoc work area, something to stop fasteners, pins, nails, etc. from getting lost in the carpet. This is working quite well for this purpose with the added benefit of looking nice. The slats are close together giving it a pleasant hardwood feel while still being a moveable rug. The downside to a moveable rug, of course, is the "rug creep" that happens if the rug is not anchored in some way. The becomes extra noticeable with this item since it buckles more than wrinkles. Simple ensure that it is anchored as is appropriate and it shouldn't be a big issue. For this price, we couldn't have done better.

Great buy
My daughter recently moved into a house that is completely carpeted (except for kitchen and baths). She needed something to go under the dining room table. This works perfectly. Her small table and two chairs fit just right. It has a beautiful color and sheen, and I like the bound edges and the lined backing. It seems it would work well on a tile floor as well, as there's little bumps on the backing that look like they would grip the floor and keep the rug from moving. Excellent price and beautiful product. Quick shipping too.

Beautiful rug
I used this rug for my mud room. I needed something that was durable and easy to clean during the rainy months. The only issue I guess was it smelled like chemicals or a factory when I opened it. Not too big of an issue the smell went away, I would just recommend an area where it can sorta air out if you plan on using it inside. Other than that beautiful.
