Fyxation Gates Slim Platform Pedal

Designed to be difficult to flip
I was running them with straps. The slant to these pedals is the opposite of what you would hope, if you are flipping your pedals. They were obv designed to run with Fyxation's excellent straps, but not only do they lack a flip tab: They are slanted the opposite of a flip tab. It's bizarre.I got used to it, but I wouldn't buy them again, especially for fixed gear where flipping is a precise motion that needs to work consistently. I just gave that bike to a friend and he gave up flipping immediately - I don't blame 'em.

Easily adjustable bearings
Installed on a single-speed; very secure grip and large platform, nice when standing on pedals to climb. Be prepared to adjust the bearings, they were quite rough on arrival. This is very easy: pop off the dust cap on the outside edge, loosen the locknut slightly (no need to remove it; this is reverse-threaded on the left, like the crank threads), and use needle-nose pliers to grasp and turn the cone an 1/8th of a turn at a time until the spindle turns smoothly, with just a tiny bit of play. Tighten the locknut gently until the play is removed but the pedal still spins easily; test, and adjust again if necessary.

Lightweight, Sturdy
Wide enough for a comfortable fit, easy to install. I got tired of clipping in and not being able to walk around on my bike shoes. I basically ride alone now and not nearly as hard as I used to, so these are great compromise.

Not long lasting.
Smooth for a few weeks mounted on a fixed gear normal commute about 5 miles a day. I rode without brakes and would hop/skid to break. Left side ceased and I almost flip had straps on as well. Could’ve been a bad accident. Would not recommend for a track bike. Spend a few extra bucks and go with wellgo.

These work fine and grip well
the platform is a bit large and segments too narrow for my preference, but the pins and footbed are strong and you absolutely will not slip, even with wet muddy shoes

Not that great
The left pedal's bearing have died after 2 years of light commuting of 2 miles, once or twice a week. My first pedals to ever die on me so i'm a little disappointed. I never loved them because the middle of the pedal is higher than the edges which creates a slight rocking of the pedal underfoot and compromises the grip. Otherwise they were okay

great pedals!
have had them on my critical cycles bike for the last 800 miles and they perform just as expected....the original pedals were a little too small and were set up for toe clips (had a top and bottom). I don't use the toe clips, so I took them off and kept getting the "bottom" of the pedal...these are just the right size and if i want to add straps later, they are set up to accept straps....

but they do the job and are a great value.
