Melba the Brain is about a girl who finds out that she is a genius. Not only is she a genius, but she has special powers that allow her to summon an interplanetary cat. This cat brings her far and wide to a planet that Melba has never heard of. Here, the animals are dominant and humans are lowly creatures. Melba finds that this planet is not just fun and games when she finds out that she can't get out of it and back to Earth! Will Melba ever return back home or not?This book is a very interesting and intriguing book. While it is made for children, there are some parts that may be confusing to them. Some of the vocab included in this book is advanced for children, but it will probably help YOUR child to learn.Overall, I thought this book was satisfactory. Some of the plot was humdrum and many parts were confusing, even to an adult. However, the author did a very good job with her description. The "clackety-clack" of a crocodile's teeth are just an example. I would recommend this book to an advanced young reader.
