I don't normally write reviews (despite relying on them for purchases). Well, I had to write about this item. As soon as I got it, I tried a few of my daughter's colored pencils. Not only did it sharpen well, but it was quick too! We even sharpened some BRAND NEW pencils never sharpened before and they only took between 5-10 seconds. Also, although it doesn't really stop sharpening per se, it's VERY easy to tell when it is done. I didn't count but I'd have to say that between colored pencils and regular pencils I must have sharpened almost 200 already today and it's still going strong! Although it works the best on Crayola, any colored pencil will sharpen fine and without eating away at your colored pencils! The only quibs is it takes some getting used to, sharpening the pencils vertically, and the shavings tray is quite small so you have to empty it frequently. Oh yeah - and don't make my mistake and keep the sharpener in its normal position while taking off the shavings tray or they will spill everywhere! You'll want to either unplug it and take the whole unit with you to the garbage OR, tip it upside down, tap a few times, and THEN take off the shavings tray. Other than those few things it's great!

Sharpener works well. I like small size & battery operation.

*if I didn’t have kids this would be 5 stars*I love this sharpener but I have toddlers and it isn’t as safe as I thought it would be.First off it works great. The different sharpen types is great, the shorter more blunt one could be more blunt for littles but it’s really a great top. The kids can’t stab each other with that super sharp and the blunt sharpen doesn’t break as soon as they touch their pencil to paper. Flip side, I love having a super sharp tip on my prisma colors. It is very sharp without killing your pencils. Also the middle sharpen is good for if I have a large area I want to cover. I use this for blunt sharpen for kids and super sharp or middle size for myself. The shavings compartment holds way more than we could ever sharpen in a week. I’ve used it plugged in and on batteries and haven’t noticed a difference, they are both great options.Safety stuff only because I have toddlers (4&2): The sliding safety cover that can move over to allowa for thicker pencils, just slides with no resistance so this isn’t a safety cover to protect tiny fingers, just a holder to keep the thinner pencils from wobbling and causing damage to them while sharpening. The battery cover and the shavings holder come off super easy also. Not as in when you don’t want them too, just easy enough for small hands to figure it out.So again it would be 5 stars if I didn’t have littles and once they are older I’m pretty sure we’ll still use this sharpener. It’s great.

I like pencils when they are extremely sharp. For a budget electric sharpener it does the job really well, maybe too well (1) I poked myself accidentally and left a piece of lead (I got it out) it was so fine and sharp it was a little dangerous (2) If I am not careful when sharpening and if I press too hard, this sharpener can use up 1/2 a pencil (but it will be sharp)

Purchased the pencil sharpener in order to keep my Prismacolor premium colored pencils sharp. Absolutely love it! Sharpens the premium colored pencils just right, doesn't chew up the pencils. The points of the pencils are nice and sharp, and the points don't break off.

I am rating this after buying a second one for my twin grandsons who go through a lot of pencils. As to the title that this is a "colored pencil sharpener," that is true in that it sharpens colored pencils, but it also sharpens black graphite pencils very well. What they really mean is that it is a pencil sharpener that comes in several color choices. Getting away from semantic issues, electric pencil sharpeners have a checkered history of not lasting long and not doing a very good job. That is why this model is worth one's investment. If it goes bad, you didn't spend too much on it, but to date, the two I bought for my granddaughter and the above-mentioned twins are working very well. There are two things to love about this sharpener; one it runs on both batteries and on a transformer, and two, it has three settings for the point sharpness--good for colored pencils. I think it is about time I bought one for myself.

I haven't used this for coloring pencils yet. Plus it's too new to judge reliability. But I have spent a lot more money on manual sharpeners than the price of this and for a good writing pencil it beats them all. Even the one shaped like a nose. Yes the electric sharpener won by a nose. I don't even remember if it came with a detachable cord. I wanted battery operation for the same reason I tried manual. No space. This battery one takes up very little space. It isn't suitable for more than 2 or 3 active users to share, partly because its smallness means it needs frequent emptying. (This requires deftness and care, unlike a manual which you can hold over the wastebasket while using.) For a good sharp point without too much grinding, this is the way to go unless you're willing to spend 3x as much (with no battery option.)

I hope this message finds you healthy and virus free.For Christmas 2019 my lovely wife purchased a rechargable pencil sharpener from AFMAT.This sharpener works extremely well.The battery pack has not required a charge in 3 months.The waste bin is a good size and it sharpens coloured and sketch pencils to a sharp point or a flat and even managed to do a great job on a Generals Charcoal 557-6B Soft.I look forward to purchasing the long taper sharpener, as well.Solid product.
