I have been using the G11S for some time now and been working great and has great range and run time.The CTCSS/DTS tones came turned on but both radios were the same. not a problem if just using the set but can be easy changed in menu.They are easy to program from PC .this also will let you program frequencies to listen to in VHF and UHF bands.will also let you sed wide or narrow band and power level except ch 8 to 14 which are narrow band and low power only.you can set DIY repeater channels. either threw the menu of PC .was a easy set up just select TX and RX tones and save. and threw PC the display can be changed to name the repeater. like the call sign.does USB charging at 5V so most USB C cords work but the included dule A to 2C cord is great. it does charge from solar but clods make it stop and start charging so solar to power bank and power bank to radios is a better way and how I charge.you can use Nagoya NA771-G antenna on them for better range.that are not water proof but placing in plastic bag is great way to store them and will work inside the bag.the speaker MIC is a great addon for them. can place in backpack or clip on making it easy to use when hiking.I got more than 1 day of run time on them with some moderate use.this is a great HT GMRS for the money.

I wish they had a spare battery you could buy.Also finding a antenna for this is a real problem…however I have found one and waiting for it to get here so I can try it and the review on the antenna are very good but one person posted that the antenna works great and set are right on but you can not useNOAA with this antenna. I will find out and give up date. Also I wish this radio had different color change on screen . This radio is loud and clear . I wish it could have been water proof and this would be the king of gmrs radio. They do give you a very good manual that gives step by step . Up date the g11s antenna you will need to bring in almost every fm station and NOAA weather radio almost all NOAA WEATHER STATIONS! !The antenna you need is nagoya NA-771G 462 mhz male because who ever explain it on the site on Amazon got male and female wrong it’s a female but you need to type in male on your search!! Less attractive features include how easy it is to press the wrong button when attempting to use in a motor vehicle and/or at night.

I don't aspire to be a HAM Radio operator, but there are a few things that you can do with a slightly more advanced radio that are nice to haves.This Radio is the perfect balance of that. It's a consumer oriented radio that the technical radio lovers seem to like quite a bit and me as a total layman could pick it up and get it to work on the first try without any fuss.These are perfect for walkies-talkies, which lets you simply talk with people in another car, while you're hiking, coordinate an event or anything where cell phones aren't the best option. I wanted this for going around my little homestead because there are many places cell service doesn't reach, but a small radio like this will.I feel like this radio strikes a good balance between price and quality. It's reasonably durable, looks good and has simplified controls to not get confused by. They come pre-programmed unlike some more complicated radios that require special cables to connect to a computer and run a setup program like CHIRP. Apparently these radios CAN do that that, but you do not HAVE to. I just wanted something that works simply, this fits that bill.The only downside is that as of the time of this review, Sept 2022, there isn't a charging cradle, a plugin power cord, or extra batteries to be purchased. The lack of extra batteries were one thing that almost stopped me from buying. Ultimately I decided to take a chance that they'd be forth coming or figure I'd have to jump to another radio all together.This does work with the Baofeng UV-5R 2 pin Speaker, should work with any other standard 2 pin speaker too.I wish this radio maxed out the 5 watts limit. This radio is a GMRS radio and right now people are getting 2.5 watts to 4.5 watts. This radio still will have better reach than a FRS radio because it can only do 2 watts max.The only meaningful note is with GMRS you technically need a license which is cheap, done online, with no test and lasts for many years for your whole family. It's a technicality that HAMs will make dramatic claims around.

Well built radio. Not waterproof I’m sure but for what they are meant for that wasn’t an issueClear sound on the speaker. Transmissions come out clear. FM radio is a big plus too. Pretty happy for what I got! 2 of them for $60. Doesn’t get much better than that price wise!!

So far so good. Dual charger is nice and these are pretty simple but a huge issue for me is that the keypad lock on these is not sticky when turning the device and then off again. I bought these for younger kids going into the woods, it would be great if the keypad would stay locked.

Got these for family members that aren't so good with technology. Basically, fewer buttons makes for a less daunting tool for them and these are fantastic for that.
