Peugeot - Paris Chef u'Select Manual Pepper Mill - Adjustable Grinder - Stainless Steel

I got this grinder so that I can use it with a specific type of organic black peppers that I could not find in the stores in my area. This is a great product. It looks nice, feels sturdier in hand than most other grinders I have used, is easy to refill and clean, and functions well. There are multiple grind setting (coarse to fine) and I find them very useful. Overall, I am pleased with this product, and my decision to purchase it.

This Peugeot peppermill in brushed stainless steel is gorgeous and outstanding quality. It was a tough choice as to whether to buy one in wood or brushed stainless, but I'm so happy with the brushed stainless as it looks great and matches everything. The bottom turns to select the coarseness of the grind, and it's easy to use and provides a nice range of choices from fine to coarsely ground. This peppermill is easy to fill and works perfectly. I'm pleased with the 8-3/4" height as it's a good height to use while cooking, and it isn't too tall to use at the table sitting down. For me, any taller would make grinding pepper onto my plate from a sitting position awkward. I bought this peppermill for myself, but it would be a perfect gift for a wedding or other occasion. The only issue for me was that a plastic insert (that I assume is in the box to hold the peppermill in place) arrived shattered, so I had to pick little plastic pieces out of the bottom and groove for the selector part of the peppermill. But the peppermill is so nice and solid it didn't get scratched, and it was just a minor inconvenience. I think this Peugeot peppermill is top notch and am really pleased with this purchase. Made in France. Update 10/30/2017: My peppermill still works great and doesn’t ever jam even if I select a coarse grind. The only slight oddity I’ve noticed is that the top screw part that I have to unscrew to fill it seems to loosen up on its own, so I find myself needing to tighten it periodically. It’s no big deal, and I’m still really happy with this peppermill.

Peugeot makes excellent pepper mills. Use fresh ground pepper every day. Something my grandmother always did - learned subtle but important difference it makes as a child. Great wedding gift for brides who don't know - even if order in rather than cooking always elevate with a little fresh ground pepper.

Update: To address the ongoing issue with the salt grinder, I purchased a second Peugeot salt mill from a different vendor. Unfortunately, this replacement grinder is also defective. Even when using premium salt, such as Peugeot's own brand, the salt mill fails to grind. Conclusion: Despite the aesthetic appeal and the high-quality performance of the pepper grinder, the persistent issues with the salt grinder and the frustrating replacement and warranty process make this product set ultimately unsatisfactory. It's important to note that these grinders are specifically designed for their respective spices and are not interchangeable. The salt grinder is not intended for pepper, and vice versa. Original review: Amazon replaced the original mill with a new one. The replacement does not grind properly. I called Peugeot for replacement under warranty. Their warranty policy is user-unfriendly, and time consuming. I decided to return both items (salt and pepper mill) through Amazon. Not worth the hassle.

WOW is this pepper mill great! I’ve owned several over the years made by other manufacturers, and was disappointed in them for one reason or another: Too bulky, too heavy to operate efficiently, difficult to clean, looked worn after a while, inconsistent grind, function deteriorated over time, etc. All problems which are non-existent with this gem! It actually has a variety of grind settings so you can achieve coarse to fine ground pepper - great for steaks to soups. I use a pepper mill several times per day, and a good one really is one of those things which makes for less frustration in life. This was well worth the investment, and I only wish I’d splurged sooner!

Despite some reports of problems with clogging and poor performance of these salt mills, I've found the opposite to be true, at least initially here! I purchased this salt mill as a finishing touch next to my range and filled it with Penzey's Extra-course Pacific Sea Salt, recommended by Penzey's as being a good fit for Peugeot's salt mills. Spot on! The 8-3/4" mill seems an ideal size for that as well. Very happy customer!

The exterior is steel but I noticed some plastic parts. In my experience with multiple pepper mills I've seen that it is mostly the plastic parts that fail though I have had cheap grinders where grinder itself fails, that's not what happens on the more expensive ones. Note, these parts on this mill seem to be a bit on the weak looking side so I just hope that this mill lasts half as long as my old mill from a different maker, it lasted twenty plus years.
