Works on Cv axle boot for cars ?

They have a really strong hold and could hold up and go around alot of things. I have replaced a few things on and inside my truck, but I don't know if you could use for a CV axle boot.

Can you join 2 together to extend the length as you’d do with plastic ones?

Sure, that could work but wherever you’re joining the hardware wire won’t be firmly tight together. These metal bands can only tighten down so far before they won’t go any smaller. For example, hardware wire is probably 2mm thick, so if you’re joining 4mm of material together it will probably be a loose fit. Secure, but loose.
