Better late than never - I am a new fan
After reading this thriller by Linwood Barclay, I can say that I am a first time reader of his, and a brand-new fan. Without giving away any of the plot, this story is about a missing wife, Brie Mason, who disappeared six years before. The police believe, as is usually the case, that her husband had something to do with it, but no proof. Her husband is so ostracized by his community that he changes his last name to avoid being recognized, but the detective in charge of the case, Marissa Hardy continues to hound him convinced that he was responsible for the crime. There are many suspects in the storyline, beautifully plotted out by the author. And the ending is so deeply satisfying wrapping everything up to a conclusion, but not an ending that is easily figured out by the reader. I immediately put another of Mr. Barclay's books on my wish list for the next time I order a few books. That's my kind of story.

What really happened?
The author has once again hit a homerun. A great "what really happened and who was really involved mystery. Great characters. The story takes off from almost the first page and draws you in slowly at first. But once he has you, hold on because it really gets good real fast! Did the main character really have something to do with his wives disappearance or how about someone else who is close to him? This story keeps you guessing. First you think you know whats happening, then a twist and then you don't. This is one of my top 10 authors. Always has a great read guaranteed. Highly recommend.

Twists and tension till the last page
When sweet and beautiful Brie Mason goes missing, suspicion falls on her husband, Andrew. In the public eye, he's a murderer, even if the police can't prove it. But six years later, disturbing events reveal that several other people had a motive to kill Brie too. Who did it, or is Brie even dead at all?Skilfully written, there are twists until the last page. Doubts remain about Andrew's guilt or innocence throughout the book. Is he a devil or much-misunderstood angel? It's a clever story and a compelling read.

An Absolute Cracker of a Read
As another reviewer stated, this authors books are so spellbinding that you tend to read them too quickly because you can’t put them down. That’s the negative .. as for the positive, I’ve read every single thing this author has published and he’s by far my favourite author. This book however, was outstandingly good. I can usually figure out the bad guy fairly quickly, and the reasons they’ve done what they did, but not this one. It wasn’t until near the end that I twigged where Andrew was going with Isabel, that I realised who the culprit was.. and then the reason for his actions was a surprise as well. As if that wasn’t enough, another shock in the last chapter to cap it off, with some ingenious actions by the main player. All in all, a cleverly written book with an amazing plot and a host of possible wrongdoers. I’ve never not enjoyed Mr Barclay’s books, but this one was an absolute cracker of a read and I’d thoroughly recommend it. Now for the other negative .. I’ll have to wait an age for his next book, but I’ll try to stretch it out a bit next time and not read it in one day, to the detriment of housework and cooking dinner !
