Nice plastic but not the full half inch
as straws these as ok. However, they are advertised as 1/2 inch. in my book that means 0.5 inches inside diameter. They are closer to 0.43, quite a bit less. i wanted these to hold items around 0.46 inches, and therefore did not fit. How could i rate them higher than a 3; even that is generous.

Perfect for thick smoothies!
These straws are great. I have a little brush straw that I got when I purchased some glass straws on Amazon. So I've washed these and used them a couple of times. They are so sturdy and just the right size for thick smoothies. I hate to throw them away.
