Writing for My Life . . . Reclaiming the Lost Pieces of Me: A Poetic Journey

Thought provoking
Interesting reading...some parts were read several times because of how it personally resonated with my own life. I would recommend to another who lost himself/herself somewhere in the shawdows of another person. The book challenges me to exam all areas of my life in search of those "lost pieces of me." Very good - not a quick read though!

The words my heart would say
Nancy Levin writes from the heart, so purely as to confirm that we all share One Heart. Grief, joy, loss, redemption -- it's all there. Thank you, Nancy. These are the words my heart would say, if it found a voice.

Brave, Empowering Poetry. Simply Beautiful
Brave and beautifully written, the poems in Nancy Levin's Writing for My Life speak on her personal experience, while managing to inspire and teach at the same time. Some of the lessons are easier than others. Many are lifelong themes we all go back to and revisit occasionally. Some of the poems come across as painful and amazing in a way that only poetry possibly can. But it's not a gloomy collection. The underlying theme is about overcoming, and coming back to who you really are. Being true to yourself without finger-pointing. The writing is done through the eyes of the author as she went through a divorce after 15 years of marriage. However, her pain and separation become the reader's pain and separation. Writing for My Life...Reclaiming the Lost Pieces of Me is a deep, intense work of art. It will get under your skin and teach you some things if you give it a chance. There is great value in her words, and I look forward to reading more of Nancy Levin's work in the future. I received a free copy of this book for review purposes from its publisher, Hay House. I wasn't paid or influenced in any way for this review. It is my honest assessment of the work.

Real Life
I had the pleasure of meeting Nancy and spending two days with her in Ashville NC at a writers workshop. She shared some of this book at the workshop. It is a page turner and very real. Nancy is not fake in any way. She has worked through the masks that we all wear and she is real and her writing portrays this. I normally am not drawn to poetry but I couldn't put this down. It is a must read. I thank Nancy for being open and sharing a part of her life that most of us would be afraid to share.

Thank you, Nancy, for teaching me the power of poetry.
Everyone should know what it feels like to have a poet's words reflect your soul so deeply that you recognize your life in their journey. When a person has the gift to choose and arrange words so skillfully that you feel like you want to cry on one page and cheer on another--for both the writer and yourself--you end the book feeling grateful that the writer had the courage to share so vulnerably. Thank you, Nancy, for teaching me the power of poetry.Bob Olson, OfSpirit.com Magazine editor
