Comforts families that must separate
This book became my student's favorite book as she was learning English as her second language. She left her family behind in Central America, for a safer future in the USA. As a mother of 3, my student loves to read children's books. Once she mastered the English words in Cousins Forever, she made personal connections to the characters and identified with the vibrant illustrations. Although a picture book, the vocabulary is mature and interesting to an adult reader. Together, this book comforts the readers, and normalizes an otherwise very challenging family separation.

A Beautifully Illustrated Children's Book
Cousins Forever, by Elisavet Arkolaki, is a beautifully illustrated children's book. The story involves two cousins who are as close as sisters. However, they are separated when one moves to the far-away country of her father with different customs and languages. As time passes, the cousin who moved away learns a different language and accent. This makes it more challenging for the two to communicate. Finally, realizing that they are having trouble understanding each other, the cousins devise a "word swap" painting game. They paint pictures of everyday objects and include words for what they have painted to help each other learn new words. The story is in the present time because the cousins communicate via video chat. The illustrations are beautiful, and the story is simple yet effective.

An engaging heartfelt story that many can relate to, accompanied by beautiful artistry!
The story is one that brought many memories of my childhood and how moving countries affects both communication and speech with loved ones ~ the story writing was very complex/wordiness for the first few pages compared to the rest of the book. It's a great book as a conversation starter with children to encourage curiosity and understanding how all languages are connected on some level.

Problem with return
I do not want a replacement and it will not give me a refund? What is the problem. I thought this book had a Spanish translation, but it does not. I would like to return and get a refund, not a replacement.

A colorful picture book about family love across the miles
This is another beautiful book by Charikleia and Elisavet Arkolaki. A colorful picture book about the love of family and the strong bonds between its members. We loved "Happiness Street" but "Cousins Forever" is our new favorite! Once again, the artwork soothes the eye. Charikleia's watercolors are cheerful, warm and super cute! Elisavet weaves a tender story about two cousins, who look like twins, but are separated by distance. Yet the bond between them is unbreakable. Instead of drifting apart, the two cousins devise a coloring game to play over the internet. The "Word Swap". They explore each other's new surroundings by exchanging artwork and they teach each other new words in the process. Words in the language of the country they live in. The game keeps them entertained and strengthens the ties between them.We really enjoyed reading it. Thumbs up for the Arkolaki sisters!!!

Sweet story
It is a sweet story of two cousins, as close as sisters, who are separated when one cousin’s parents move to a different country. It talks about how they keep in touch and how they learn about the languages from each other's countries. The artworks are beautiful and brilliant! I felt nostalgic and it refreshed my childhood memories with my cousins.

Great to teach kids how magical a very special friendship can be!
I really love Elisavet Arkolaki's books. She creates such a beautiful universe by mixing compelling texts with really great images that is very easy for both kids and adults to go along with the love she brings on her stories. At the end of Cousins Forever I really wish I had a cousin to create my own "Word Swap" game and share wonderful experiences with!

Great pictures
I loved this book especially liked the illustrations they look like watercolours, makes a refreshing change from digital illustrations, and the story about someone that’s travelled and the changes in languages they find I like especially the ending features.

Beautiful book
This is a beautiful boom about cousins who are so close to each other that even distance does not create differences between the two. Both of them cherish what they have and learn about different animals, living conditions between the two. A great book to learn how different things are addressed in different languages, it gives a perspective.

Nice book to read to young children
Wish book had a hard cover so it could be stored without damage and being handled by young one. Nice story. It’s a keeper.

Beautiful story and amazing illustrations
It's a picture book you have to have. Beautiful story about connection between cousins. No matter how far away you are, there is an invisible bond. The artwork in this book is exceptional. I really love those paintings, exposing children to art. I would highly recommend it.

Skip it
The title doesn’t really reference the story. The story isn’t engaging for children, nor does it have the type of flow you expect from high-quality children’s stories. It reads like something a child would write; with gaps in the tale that make it confusing. The pictures leave much to be desired, generally not referencing the story. And the whole point of this work is to share the “word swap” game with the world — but it isn’t explained in any detail, nor are the actual words the children “swapped” written in their various languages
