These do NOT have a crepe sole as advertised.
These boots are fantastic for the money and I am pretty happy with the purchase, HOWEVER, they do not have crepe soles as advertised. Instead they have a more standard hard rubber sole with a molded crepe-like texture. They do not have the softness or spring of a true crepe sole. I don't know if that is dishonest marketing or just an error but it has marred an otherwise happy transaction.

The Original Jungle Boot
I received these about a week ago right on time. Once unboxed I gave them a good going over for any flaws and found none. The stitching and overall craftmanship was comparable to any high quality boots I own (and I don't own any other kind). Then I slipped them on to make sure they fit and walked around the room. Absolutely perfect fit with no breaking in needed. The padded insole felt as comfortable as my Belleville 1st issue USMC hot weather combat boots which feel like walking on foam pillows. Better yet these boondockers feel like they weigh half as much. They even weigh less than my Chippewa trench boots which are just a variant of the boondocker. In these 100+ degree Texas summers that reduction in weight makes a big difference toward the end of the day. I had some reservations about running through the brambles in low tops during snake season but in the end I decided I'd just have to watch my step. Since most of the Banana War Marines waltzed around Nicaragua in these and half of Carlson's Raiders chose them over the new fangled canvas jungle shoes, they must have something going for them.I'd looked at these Golden Fox boondockers for over a year comparing them to all the repro competitors out there before justifying getting another pair of boots I probably didn't truly need. The decision was made considerably easier by the insane prices those others were asking; some as high as $680 based upon some nitpicky details that made them museum quality replicas. Get real folks! This is basically a mass produced boot intended for the working stiff that nearly every man in my family had worn since before the Mexican Punitive Expedition. Field Marching Shoe, farmer's clodhopper, same thing. They were never intended for the High Society Ballroom Dancing crowd so why price them like they were? Hats off to Golden Fox for producing a practical quality product us mud jumpers can afford. As for being assembled in China, you'd be hard pressed to find anything that isn't these days. Given quality materials to work with, Chinese craftsmanship is equal to any other country. And since every scrap of leather is shipped off to China the minute it comes off a cow in Texas I guess that answers that. At this point I'm pleased as punch with my Golden Fox boondockers and I expect to remain so for a long time to come. And when I finally do wear them down to rags I'll replace them with three more pairs for less than what the others are asking for one.David CampbellL/Cpl USMC (ret) LOL!

Sizing on Boondockers
Ok here's the scoop. Great leather quality on my new Fudge colored Boondockers. The weight of the shoe is on the heavier side due to the rubber sole. The welt looks decent with a black plastic trim. Overall, it looks like you could waterproof these boots reasonably well, enough to keep some rain out anyway. The inner sole is padded and has arch support. Sizing is always a crap shoot on shoes nowadays. I got the size 10's. My sneaker size is usually a 11 and my dress shoe size is a 10.5. The picture shoes the boondockers against a size 10.5 Clarkes Bushacre. You can see the Boondockers are a tad longer. Fit is good on me with a thin /medium sock but I would order my usual dress shoe size if wishing to wear thick hiking socks or have wider feet. The toe box is similar to my Clarkes but does come in slightly near the end of the shoe. In summary, order your regular dress shoe size if wearing thick hiker socks or have wider feet. Hope this helps you decide.

Great comfy boot
I was looking for a boot that would work with jeans as well as khaki pants for casual days at the office. These boots fit the bill. They are not too dressy and shiny that you can wear with jeans, but also not look like you are just getting off work at the construction site. They also work well with khaki pants and button up for a not too dressed up look.Fit was a little large, after reading all the reviews, I actually went one full size down and I'm very happy with the fit. Boots are super comfy and had no problem wearing them all day right out of the box.One tip: I tried on clark bushacre 2. Whatever size you wear in those, its close to a half size down. I did order a full size down in what I normally wear in everyday sneakers and it seems to work. I don't have have really wide feet either.Over all, the boots fit the needs for me. Really comfy to wear all day, can do yard work, and go out to dinner and the boots are overall good for any situation.

Great Materials, Painful Toe Box
The materials and construction are top notch. I was immediately impressed by the thickness of the leather, which is supple, sturdy, and, due to process of making Crazy Horse Leather, has a rich, naturalistic look that gets better with age and scuffing. The insole also has great cushioning and arch support. As a someone who has to stand at work for most of the day and walks an average of 6 miles a day, my feet do not get fatigued after a full day in these unlike other boots. However - they are much narrower than the seller’s recommendation to size down would suggest. As per the seller and Amazon’s recommendation, I sized down from my TTS 11 to a 10.5. While the length is just about perfect, the two box is just slightly too narrow, causes considerable discomfort for my pinky toes and causes the toes to bunch slightly - and this is with thin dress socks, mind you. I’m hoping they may stretch a bit as I break them in (I’ve worn them on three different days, for a full day each). If you plan on wearing thicker socks than dress socks with these, or have a slightly wider foot, I would ignore the recommendations to size down and get your regular size.
