I am currently doing research for a book I'm writing about the honeybee. In researching bee venom therapy, I found this book by Dr. Beck and read it with great interest. Dr. Beck was a brilliantly intelligent physician who clearly took his Hippocratic oath seriously and set out to "do no harm" but work with nature and the body's own ability to heal when given the right circumstances. The book begins with historical information on the use of bee venom therapy and explains the chemistry of its constituents and its effects on animals and humans. Dr. Beck presents highly technical information in an engaging and easy to understand way. I found the details to be endlessly fascinating.The second part of the book focuses on actual arthritic and rheumatic conditions and goes into great detail with regard to the proper identification of these conditions, how these conditions express in the body and how they react to the therapy. Dr. Beck then details instructions for the application of BVT. The bibliography is extensive and provides more excellent resources to turn to for further information on this subject. Charles Mraz, a master beekeeper who befriended Dr. Beck and was himself a practitioner of bee venom therapy, reported that Dr. Beck had an extensive library filled with books and papers from all over the world that covered the subject of bees. Dr. Beck was fluent in multiple languages including Latin and ancient Greek. I feel deeply grateful to have found this most thorough and timely book written by an man of great intellect and character.

I read this book before I began my apitherapy course to treat RA with bee venom. It provides a full picture of what to expect. May Dr. Beck rest in peace for his research. I've been in remission for over ten years.

This is probably very good if you want serious information about bee sting therapy. It has loads of facts/figures and case studies. if you just want general information this is too much. I wanted to find out about homeopathic treatment and there was nothing about this.
