WLV Disposable Residential Septic Vent Activated Carbon Odor Filter - 4"/DN100

This product works as advertised to stop the septic/sewer smell from our vent pipes. However, we've found a big drawback to the concept. Both of our vent pipes are dripping condensation inside and out during cold weather. I took off the filters to find the insides dripping wet, which makes sense as they must trap moist warm air coming up from the plumbing system. Now we have a large wet spot in our ceiling beside a vent pipe. The trapped warm air is in contact with the cold air in our attic, causing condensation to drip on the outside of the pipe to our ceiling. In retrospect, I don't recommend covering a vent pipe with anything that stops good airflow.

Purchased this for a septic tank located in the yard. There were times when the wind blew and you could smell the tank, but after popping this on the vent pipe it made the world of difference. Couldn’t smell anything at all.This is more of an FYI because I know you can’t stop this from happening and I don’t fault the manufacture for that. I live in Texas where is gets really hot and the sun can destroy certain materials after long exposure times. We had one of these for about three years, but eventually the PVC started cracking and we had to buy a new one because it fell apart. The second the original one broke I ended up ordering the same one again. It really was that good.

Had one of these for 15 years that worked flawlessly. Got a new one after my dog ran full force into the old one and broke it..New one just like the older one it replaced, although the carbon filler material is more of a powdery granule instead of the pellets it came with years ago. Time will tell if it's just as effective? Plastic seems more brittle/thinner as well.

Happy with this. We have a dose tank system, that means we have a 1000 gallon septic tank with brown fluid, that then flows into a 1000 gallon grey tank and then pumps into a turkey mound Leach field.The dose tank is the 1000 gallon grey tank. It has a vent on top because it has to equal out pressure. It was stinking up the back yard air because it stinks in there.We put this on top and it solved the problem, no odor at all, we really appreciate this.

The only downside is having to load the carbon initially. Very messy. But the product works as advertised. Curious to see how long the carbon lasts.

Did the trick, no more smell on our patio. This product seems to have worked, we spent a significant amount of time on our new patio this year and did not experience the smell that we had prior to installing this product. It seems to have worked

Bottom line ... it does the job. As noted in other reviews, the plastic housing is pretty wimpy. I wrapped some white Gorilla tape around it to reinforce it right out of the box. The charcoal is a little messy to put in but that should clean up after the first rain - depends how picky you are. The smell is definitely gone though.

I just built a new house and the plumbing vent pipe went through the roof on back side of the house. The smell from the septic coming up through the vent and into the backyard was horrible. I bought this slid it on top of the vent pipe in the roof and stench was gone. Worth every penny as far as I am concerned.
