TP-Link N300 WiFi Extender(RE105), WiFi Extenders Signal Booster for Home, Single Band WiFi Range Extender, Internet Booster, Supports Access Point, Wall Plug Design, 2.4Ghz only (Renewed)

I needed to connect an ethernet-only device to my home WiFi. When the RE105 arrived I connected it to my router using WPS (push WPS button on router, push WPS button on RE105... bingo). Then I connected the RE105 to my ethernet-only device and I was up and running. Installation took all of 5 minutes.I gather the RE105 is creating its own WiFi network and SSID, but I am not using that. In fact if the device remains stable for a week or so I'll look at its admin page to shut everything off I can that I don't need.In short, a great "replace ethernet cable with WiFi connection" solution.

This is a great little device with amazing range. It does exactly what I needed, which was to increase the range (distance) of my home Wi-Fi signal.I did have some initial problems with the setup. The unit I received had been a returned product and was still programmed with its previous owners password. I was able to perform a factory reset (press reset button, with unit powered on). From there, it was easy to use the TP-link Tether APP to step through the setup.My unit is up and running just fine. I may get another one to boost the range on the other side of my Wi-Fi zone.

This was pretty easy to install. I’m a tech novice, good at following the directions but I don’t have any tech knowledge & I was able to get this up & running fairly fast. And it works! My only disappointment is it boosted the signal from “poor” & “fair” up to “good”, which def helps but with the new router I was hoping for very good or strong. But for a small price this did boost my signal strength up 1-2 levels.

The repeater is very inexpensive but serves an important purpose for me with Ubiquity Access points which have trouble connecting to IOT devices on 2.4GHZ particularly older Wifi chipset based ones. I got this to serve as an extender that allows me to connect them reliably to my main IOT network.Does work, but initially had to try many times to get this connected to my main network. Also one pet peeve of mine is it shares same password as extended network, if you wanted to not share it to extended devices, out of luck.Range is pretty good and cover a large house surprisingly. Keep in mind this is 2.4Ghz only and so speeds will be low but range is good for devices. So good buy to solve problems like I had or if you want to just extend a lower speed signal.

None of the settings from the previous owner had been removed. Luckily I knew about the hidden reset button and was able to reset and connect. It has range issues and the TP Tether Tool isn't the best as you really have to hack around to figure out how to change names and the like. However, what do you expect for $12? It's working for what I need for the moment so I'm good.edited 04/01/22Bought a 4th one and same issue. You folks need to reset these before sending out. Makes me question the quality of the "refurbish"...
