What a great review of Grand Canyon history. Well written, absolutely fascinating account of how humans came to understand, revere, and (in some cases) nearly destroy this incredible feature. Told with awe and authority, I'm amazed at how much I learned. The author seamlessly puts it all into context with exploration and development across the West. Highly recommended reading.

The best book for the reader who wants to prepare for a visit to the Grand Canyon. Mr Lago is VERY knowledgeable and an excellent writer.
