Great size if you are BBQ ing a full size salmonThe 11/12 inch boards are too short, unless you are doing smaller salmon pieces.I start by soaking the board in steaming hot tap water….then let then soak for up to 3/4 hours..Once I’m ready to bake/BBQ the salmon, which has been marinating for probably 2 hrs, I smear the top of the plank with olive oil… the salmon will slide right off when ready. I use indirect heat on the BbQ grill…400*f + until the last few minutes, …this way the salmon is nicely baked, but the cedar plank doesn't burn from over heating. After which will turn up the burners up under the plank for a few minutes. I baste with my wife’s marinade during baking, ( honey/ teryaki/ garlic ) to an Internal temp 135/140 FI prefer the skin removed thus the marinade penetrates the bottom and this way the baking taste is through and through.I’m sure everyone has their favorite recipe…this is ours.EnjoyPete
