GREAT MULTI-USE CANE
Well, it's been three years since I bought this anti shock cane and I've had both knees replaced and a lumbar spinal fusion and rehabbed with this cane. The P/T.s all loved it compared to the traditional cane. I am VERY pleased with this hiking cane. It's very sturdy and seems well made. The cork handle is a little longer than other similiar canes. The handle is also VERY comfortable.I added a vulcanized rubber cane tip to increase the 'anti shock' properties of the cane (available thru Amazon). The cane supports me very well and I'm a 200lb. person. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE CHINOOK ANTI-SHOCK HIKING CANE!! ADDEDENDUM: I had my 2nd Total Knee Replacement and The Chinook ThisAnti-Shock Hiking Cane is SO much more comfortable to use than a traditional cane and I actually feel more stable on it than a regular cane. My outpatient pysical therapists both commented on how much they liked the larger design of the handle and liked the cork material better than plastic. They also liked the anti-shock feature of the cane and how it can take pressure off various parts of the wrist, arm and shoulder. They also were amazed that the cane costs under $20.00. This cane is a 'must have' for anyone going through a Total Knee Replacement or who uses a cane on a regular basis! For me this was a great buy for a great cane! The price has gone up a little since I originally purchased it but it's VERY much worth the $$.. ...in fact, it's probably one of the best poducts I've purchased thru Amazon....and that's saying a lot!! No need to spend more $$. This is a great cane!!!

THIS Cane is GREAT!!!
I ordered this cane on the recommendation of a friend. I have a connective tissue disorder and am prone to injury from falls and overuse injury to my joints. I mostly wanted this can for stability in icy weather. It is very lightweight, and comes with a carbide tip and shock absorption, exactly filling the need for winter stability without overstressing joints. It folds to 25" in length. The cork handle is hypoallergenic and will not pull heat away from my hands. It can be adjusted for use as a cane, or as a tall walking stick. When the cane arrived my husband, who has a lower back issue, played with it for a short time and wanted to know if it came in green, and if I would order him one! He liked the adjustability, and the mechanical assist from the shock absorption spring, he also thought that the handle was comfortable and would be easy on the hands.

This is a lot nicer then the price would imply. Adjusts easily to be a cane or a hiking stick.
I have a bum knee and it is in a brace. A hiking stick is great for stability when I am out doors but they are not allowed as carry on for flying. But a cane is an allowable stability device so I figured I would buy this and as the price was so low if TSA takes it away I am not out that much money. But now that I have used it as a cane and a hiking stick I really hope TSA does not take it from me as it is a really nice cane/hiking stick combo. Update: Take the basket off, in unscrews, then put on rubber foot and shorten to cane and TSA JUST PASSED ME THROUGH. It is comfortable, easy to adjust and worth, well worth, the money.

Good Value in Antishock cane but my 2nd choice [Updated]
This is the only choice in this price range for an anti shock cane, so that makes it a very good value. It is not the lightest, nor does it collapse into the shortest length, but it is sturdy. Sometimes it does come out of the anti shock setting just in use, and you have to give it a quick twist to get back to it, though with time, I hope it doesn't do it all the time. That can become annoying in everyday use, which happened to my Komperdell Walker AS over time, and why I went looking for another, since they were discontinued. The next higher in price and another only choice in that range, is the Wrzbest JungleLeopard anti shock cane on Amazon, which is lighter in weight, and collapses to a much shorter overall length. That one does not have an on and off mechanism for the anti shock-it is on all the time. Which can be a very good thing, since you don't have to fool with it anytime because it goes out by itself like the Chinook does. Don't get me wrong, this is a good, serviceable cane at a good price, if you don't need the lightest in weight, or the shortest in collapsed dimensions for travel. The other difference is the handle is a bit bulkier, and longer, and rougher in texture. They also put some ridges in the vertical front side for more traction, apparently, though I don't think that it was necessary, and the composite cork handle is more coarse in texture as well. If you are sensitive to touch, you may find this grip a little harsh, as I do, but many will not have that issue, I am sure. This is, for me, a very good at home cane, or even a good shopping cane to take to the stores, without much investment or worry about how it survives during shopping trips, etc. What I take on the trail in the woods, will most likely be different, when there is a choice. Updated to add: I now, after a few months of daily use, greatly prefer the Wrzbest JungleLeopard antishock cane that is also sold here on Amazon, though it is out of stock right now, and just a bit more in price when in stock. I would hold out for it to come back in stock if possible, or look for it elsewhere for it, as a first choice. It is just lighter enough while being very sturdy, and very comfortable in the hand with a slightly smaller grip, and is preferable unless you have very large hands, possibly. For average Men's and Women's hands, it will feel better and perform reliably, making it a favorite for me in everyday use. UPDATE 8/22 I have been using this around the house now for about a year full time, since my favorite (Wrzbest JungleLeopard) cane's cork handle started to come loose around the bottom where it attaches to the cane. So I started using the Chinook cane again daily. Just recently the cork handle started to get a hole in the top side of the grip, so I just got out the duct tape and now the handle is not as nice or comfortable, but it still works. You still can't beat the price of this cane on Amazon though, so it's still a viable option, with a little larger cork handle than most, that I find more comfortable than some smaller ones. The anti shock still keeps slipping out of lock, so you need to reset it often, but that's not hard, just a quick turn of the handle while holding the shaft, and it's good to go again. Hopefully they have improved on that feature, but maybe not, it's been a couple of years since I bought mine. This is a sturdy, inexpensive anti shock cane, good for home or shopping, or walks if you don't mind that it's not the lightest around. But it probably is the cheapest you can buy that works. Good quality replacement tips will cost you almost as much as this cane (for a pair of Leki tips), but beware of the generic imitators that do not use enough rubber to have traction on vinyl or highly polished slippery floors, especially when it's wet out! I have tried a few, but now will only buy Leki's for safety's sake. They're out of stock here now but can be found online. Komperdell brand should be good too if they fit this cane.

Great value
Coming off of a broken leg I wanted something I could use as a cane now and a trekking pole later. This fit the bill perfectly. Nice price as I am not sure how often I'll end up using this. It's solid, nice and adjustable. I like that you can switch off the shock absorber. Saw some reviews of them breaking, not sure if they got bad ones or didn't know how to use it properly, things sturdy enough for me. And again for the price you can't beat it.

My new favorite
This cane has become my favorite out of 8 or 9 canes. The light weight makes it easy to carry and manipulate. Very convenient to travel with. The handle provides a comfortable, secure grip. The wrist strap is a plus but I think it is too strong. I believe such a strap should prevent one from dropping the cane but not so strong as to be unbreakable should you need to free yourself from the cane in an emergency. On the negative side, I wore out the first rubber tip in only a couple hours walking the Vegas strip. The hard carbide under the pad is extremely unsafe on linoleum or tile and damaging to many surfaces. There are lots of replacement tips available though at a reasonable cost. Take an extra with you if you're trekking on cement. I add another metal washer inside the rubber tips to help keep the carbide tip from wearing through the rubber. I have 3 of these now and have used nothing else since I bought the first one!

Lightweight, but handle is hard and rough, replacement tips hard to find
A decent cane, lighter weight than my quad cane, and not as slippery as my other hiking-balance cane. The handle helps carry more weight for hobbling, but it is hard resin or plastic, with chopped cork mixed through, which makes it rough and hard on my palms-wrists. The anti-shock is a combo of the top third of the shaft sliding up and down on the rest of the shaft, and the springs o deep inside the shaft soften shocks only when you push STRAIGHT down REALLY hard. I didnt even realize it had a spring inside it for a long time, i just never pressed straight down with all my weight. It was always at an angle. But it is easy to lock in place. The shaft was easy-ish to turn to the right length (handle should be at bend of wrist on uninjured side), but while i was adjusting it, it got too tight at room temp. I had to chill it to finish. But I have some arthritis and pain symptoms in hands and wrists, so this might be easier for others. The color is a nice deep electric blue. The tip is NARROWER than a standard 3/4 inch cane. It is about half an inch, maybe a little less, where a replacement tip would fit. I need a wider tip but havent found one here yet that is narrow enough to fit. Th is tip feels more grippy than my other hiking-balance cane. But it doesn't help me enough with balance on hard flooring. It helps a little to turn the cane backwards, heel of palm resting right over the shaft, and keep my arm close up against my body, then the cane doesn't wobble or slip as easily. But this is poor posture and will injure worse over time. So, I learned from this that i probably need a different, standard cane and a definitely a walker. So overall, a cheap hiking cane that seems a little lighter and better made than the mobility and hiking canes I already have. But not enough for me.

Excellent stick. Firm handgrip. PRIMO!
I have used many of these things over the years. This takes the prize. The handgrip is firm. It just FEELS solid. (mind you, I'm 6'2",175 after all cancer 'care'.) Still, elegant and useful. C. 2nd bout. I am lighter and more bent over. THE STICK ADJUSTS. Or abides, or something. C
