This is an outstanding book for the student looking to get out of the beginner stage and start playing songs. When you can grab open chords accurately, grab this book. The songs are well known and familiar; there aren't a lot of barre chords-- most of the tunes have none...but there's a few & that's probably a good thing- you can't hide from barre chords

While this is a good overall book, for me, there are too few songs that I would bother to learn.

I gave it a 3 star because the majority of the songs are pretty hard and more advanced, however, there are a few songs that I recognize from the 60s and the chords aren't that difficult. I also like the lyrics that are right below the chords. I was only able to play 2 songs though! Hopefully, I can return this book because it still looks brand new.

This is a great resource for picking up songs quickly, especially if you know basic chords and can read chord diagrams but don't read sheet music. Songs are printed so that you don't have to turn pages to see the whole song, which is a serious plus.

You need some guitar knowledge but a good starting book.

I have this to a great resource that initially was a bit overwhelming.But over time as my playing has improved I have found I am able to play or enjoy more and more of these songs.I have a few Hal Leonard 50 first books and have found them all very good.
