Sturdy
My only complaint is that I wish there was a stainless steel version available. This one feels like it may be made of hard plastic or a light metal. But I put it through A LOT everyday in a professional studio environment and it’s held up for a few months now! Great design and easy to use. Good for those with restricted movement in their hands.

Just the facts!
Before ordering this ring, I read all of the reviews. I saw where some said that it wouldn't work on 14, 16 or 18 gauge rings and that the ring itself was to small to fit their fingers. I'm not going to dispute these claims as not justified but if they received the same tool that I did, they are wrong. First of all, I use exclusively 16 and 18 gauge rings and they will fit into 3 of the 4 slots that are on the tool. I buy mine from reputable jewelry supply sites so I know they are measured correctly. Secondly, the tool itself is probably a size 6 ring. It is not made to fit all the way onto your finger. It is made to go over the first knuckle of your index finger. Mine goes all the way to the second knuckle. It is made to just slide onto the end of your index finger and I use my thumb to steady it. If your index finger is larger than size 6 before or at the first knuckle, then it may be too small for you. Most people will not have any problem at all with this tool. As for the tool itself, WOW, it makes opening jump rings incredibly fast. I can open about 25-30 in a minute vs about 10-15 using two sets of pliers. Someone that has been doing this for awhile could probably go a lot faster than someone like me that has just been doing it a couple of months. Newbies would definitely benefit using this tool. I open about 40-50 rings to start then I leave the ring on my finger as I work and can quickly open or widen an open ring in seconds without ever picking up another tool. I highly recommend this tool for Chain Maille.

Good for aluminum rings, but uncomfortable
This really helps speed up opening and closing rings. I use it for aluminum, and it works great. If you use it for steel, I'm not sure how well it would work, but I don't see it deforming any time soon. As others have complained, the ring is far too small to actually be worn on your finger like a standard ring. For a while, I wore it on the middle of my finger (which was as far as I could put it on). It worked well, but after several thousand rings, the skin around the tool gets very irritated and sore. So, since then, I've been using it just holding it, which I've come to like more. It's not a perfect product, but it does what it's designed to for the most part. And for the price, I couldn't complain

Small but mighty tool!
Small and mighty. When I couldn't find this ring I ordered 2 more! I make chainmaille and scalemaille jewelry. So I open and close hundreds and thousands of jump rings. This product is by far my favorite for opening a pile of them at a time.I don't reccomend using it to close rings, mostly because getting the angle just right to line up and "click" the sides of the jump ring ring past each other means also digging the ring into your finger.Pro tip: don't wear the ring all the way down your finger ... for one it's not possible on most of us. Ha. You wear it on your first knuckle. Also curl your hand into a fist instead of twisting the ring on an outstretched finger, and brace the ring with your thumb as you insert the jump ring so the ring holds still when you twist the jump ring in the slot. This will save you fatigue. Using this hand posturing I feel so much better than using 2 pliers and I go a lot faster.Spread tip: when opening tons of jump rings, put the ring on your non dominant hand and pliers in your dominant. Use the ringed hand to pick up your jump ring and place it in the pliers with the cut facing correctly. Then insert the jump ring and twist. This meathod has me opening a ring in just under a second at a time!

Bending already after light usage
I've only used this on a few rings on my first project, and it's already bending out of shape. Also the edges of the ring bite into my skin while using it. It seems both problems could be remedied by adding thickness to the ring, like a heavy duty men's thumb ring. I'm not too bothered since the ring was cheap and it is still (so far) functional. But I would not assume it'll hold up for terribly long if it's already bending.Just a note to the manufacturer, if they read this - please note metal content on the packaging! It is necessary information for those of us with contact allergies to certain metals!

A huge time saver
I started making stitch markers and trying to open and close the jump rings is a pain. Not anymore!! This ring is a huge time saver and a major frustration reliever! It does exactly as it’s supposed to and does it easily. It’s pretty too! Very shiny, I did not expect to like it so much.
