Love this set!
This set is PERFECTION. And cheap! The magnets are very good (ok, if you turn the board upside down, the King and Queen may fall off), with the pieces held in place just right, even if the board is tilted or bumped. The pieces are plastic, and beautifully designed. The size is just right as an analysis set, or for young kids. When you close it up, it stays locked. The board is nice, with algebraic coordinates on all four sides. Fantastic gift to a kid! Just can’t say enough about this set, and I’ve had and worn out several portable sets over many decades. And really, it’s also just fine for a more serious game with a clock. I’ve bought three so far. Every grandchild automatically gets one! Even good as a toy for a toddler! The pieces don't break when dropped. The felt and magnets don't come lose! They learn about magnets and getting the pieces out, putting them on the board and moving them around. (See photo)

Quality, Appearance, and Price Make This an Outstanding Value
--BOTTOM LINE: Yes, it's plastic but the quality and appearance of this set make it a fantastic value. Definitely a recommended buy. I started dabbling with chess several years ago, mostly working through Chessmaster computer tutorials but only sporadically. Recently I started taking chess more seriously and wanted a chess set to play with others and work through chess books. I wanted something of good quality and with a decent appearance but since I'm just starting to play more I couldn't justify spending much more than what this set costs. I looked at many sets but this one hit a sweet spot. Here's what I like about this set: --QUALITY: The type of plastic used on this set is very high quality. You may have seen this kind of plastic on sturdy storage containers or higher quality plastic toolboxes, for example. You know it when you see it: it has a swirling, fibrous look to it and is very, very rigid. The only thing I am uncertain of are the hinges; I can't tell exactly how they're made. While they don't look particularly sturdy they don't feel loose or anything. It will just be a matter of time to see how they hold up. Worst case scenario would be to simply replace the hinges if they ever give out; that wouldn't be difficult. Like any set in which the board becomes the storage box, the playing surface is on the outside when closed. Depending on how you plan on storing this, you may consider keeping the cardboard box it comes in. It fits tight to the closed board (no extra packing material) and will protect the playing surface from dings or scratches. --MAGNETS: The product description mentions "light magnetism." This is accurate. The magnets are just strong enough that I can tip the board 45 degrees or a little further and maintain the position. Since that never happens in real life, this is perfect if I need to move the board around or set it up on my lap desk while working through chess books and never worry about the pieces moving. The magnets are not so strong as to interfere with handling the pieces, but instead are easy to pick up and make a satisfying, light 'thunk' when placed on a square. --SIZE: I already have a small travel chess set and I was a little concerned that this set might be too small. This set is primarily for home use and I wanted a set large enough for adults to play comfortably while still being small enough not to take up too much space on my coffee table and be easy to store. I have found this board comfortable to play on and the pieces are a nice size and aren't difficult to handle. Yes, you'll bump adjacent pieces if you move too quickly but nobody in the market for this set would be playing speed chess anyway. A slightly larger set would be nice, but this was a minor concession. For casual play and analysis this is just fine. --APPEARANCE: This has to be one of the best looking plastic sets out there. When sitting on my coffee table it really does look like a wood set. The plastic and coloration used on the pieces especially look very good. They have a nice, antique appearance. The white pieces aren't stark white but have an off-white antique ivory look. The black pieces look like old carved wood. It's a very clever and effective molding process they've used to achieve this. Not many plastic sets could be described as "handsome" but this one certainly is. Also, the inclusion of algebraic coordinates was important for use with chess books. The markings are small but clear. I like that they're more sublte than larger markings. If I continue to play seriously enough then some day I'll be happy to buy a nice, larger wood set. But between now and then I'm perfectly happy with this set and would still keep it for its portability. I am very glad I purchased this compared to other sets I viewed.

Love it
I recently got the **KIDAMI Magnetic Snakes and Ladders** game, and it has quickly become a family favorite! The first thing that stood out to me was the **quality** of the board and pieces. The magnetic feature is a game-changer—no more worrying about pieces shifting or falling off the board during play, which is especially useful when playing with kids. The magnets are strong enough to keep everything in place but easy enough for little hands to move the pieces around. The **compact size** makes it perfect for travel. We’ve taken it on road trips and even used it while waiting at restaurants, and it’s kept the kids entertained for hours. The foldable design makes it super easy to pack and carry around without taking up much space. The game itself is classic fun. The **vibrant colors** and clear graphics make it visually appealing, and the rules are simple enough that everyone can join in, from young children to adults. It’s a fantastic way to spend some quality family time while teaching kids about numbers and strategy. If you’re looking for a portable, high-quality version of Snakes and Ladders that’s great for both at home and on the go, I highly recommend the **KIDAMI Magnetic Snakes and Ladders** game. It’s well-made, fun, and perfect for creating lasting memories with family and friends!

It's a beautiful set, the magnet aren't strong but it is as advertised. Surpassed my expectation
I did some research and watching reviews before deciding on this one. It's straight forward and tells you honestly that it's made of durable plastic. The finish on the board is nice, and the pieces were beautiful. They had a nice weight to them. They fixed the square sizes on the chess board - people were saying they were more rectangular before and they have fixed that issue now. It's a very attractive set for the price you pay. I've purchased other sets that claimed to be hand-made wood-- and were all poorer quality than this. For being under $15, it's a very nice set for a decent size to take along on weekend trips or to a friends house. The pieces come in a velvet pouch, and they hold well in there, so they aren't knocking around when you carry it. Keep in mind, the magnets are not that strong, I set it up and did a lift, and the magnets started sliding off, it's strong enough to stay on the board if someone bumps into it by accident, but don't expect to play this upside down or slanted even. I think this is great for beginners and people learning who wants to start off with a decent set. I thought the pieces design was very nice, they had a great finish and looks good under whatever lighting you're in. I like that it has a hand-crafted and expensive feel but it's actually plastic. It looks great and for the price, it's a great deal!

Chessboard was damaged, box was ok. Must be a returned item. Contacted seller but no response, can’t be bothered to return it, plus kids doesn’t want to wait for another one.

Gifted to my kid nephew, who loves it. It’s well made, portable. The magnets aren’t terribly strong but that’s splitting hairs. Otherwise, a great board.
