I originally got this to get remaining water out of the swimming pool that doesn't drain fully. We also have a small pool that fills with water after heavy rain and I can quickly empty it without tipping it over anymore. This hand pump really moves a great volume of water quickly. Just drop the end in the water and within a few strokes it's fully primed and moving some serious water for a hand pump. I have found so many other uses since I bought it. I have a 50+ gallon fish tank and it is much easier to do partial or complete water changes with the help of the Seasense pump. I have tried syphoning, the fancy "vacuum" hoses, and scooping but the hand pump is the fastest and easiest way to move the water. + Easy Strokes + Self Priming + Easily disassembles to remove any debris + Pumps water surprisingly fast with each stroke and continues to flow via gravity if the discharge hose is lower + Long discharge hose (24" X 72" Model) + Does not leak unless pulling too hard on the upstrokes, it will dribble from the top - The discharge hose is very stiff and it's hard to get it to stay where I need the water to go sometimes since there are bends in it that I have not been able to straighten. _Bottom Line_ Yes, I would recommend this to a friend looking for a hand pump that is capable of functioning in a variety of applications. The size and shape allows it to be used for many different things. I really wish the hose was not so rigid, it actually annoys me quite a bit when the hose pops up and water flows onto the floor or wherever else I do not want it. It is an inconvienence but not a deal breaker. I'm glad I bought it and you can't go wrong for the price.

This thing is awesome. I purchased the 24” pump after one of the bilge pumps on my 29’ cat failed. With prime, it arrived in 2 days. My cabin had 3” water for a 12’ stretch that was just over 20” wide. I’m not sure how many gallons that was, but it was a lot. This device set up really easily. I twisted one end of the tubing to the outflow portion of the pump, and placed the inflow portion (that also has a filter) against the cabin floor. I hung the end of the 7’ tubing out my cabin window and I started pumping. When this piston goes up, small amounts of water will leak onto your hand that holds the pump, but this device is very effective. Every 6 pumps equals a falling of water. I stopped counting my pumps once i passed 100. Nonetheless, this device worked really well and when I was done, only about 4 ounces of water remained that I couldn’t suck up into the pump. This hand pump is lightweight and I’d recommend that every boat owner should have a manual bilge pump for just in case. This one felt slightly delicate while I was pumping away, but I was able to shift my grip, my hands, and my angle multiple time without any cracks or flexion. I purchased the Mac size available, and I think this is a great size, but I would have preferred w user chamber that could have taken double the amount of water. The force needed on my 24” pump was minimal, so if I had to apply double the force I would have been fine. As it stands however, I have no complaints about this device. It even has. A handy clip on it that will allow you to clip the tube to its body. This hand pump is very smart, portable, lightweight, easy to use, and well worth the $25. My boat is worth a heck of a lot more than the $25 I spent to pump out water due to a failed bilge pump, and installing a new bilge pump will cost a couple hundred bucks. No matter what, I’m going to keep one of these on every boat and kayak I own. I would buy this again in a heartbeat.
