Strategico in salsa Gears!
Ottimo gioco a tema Gears per tutti gli amanti degli strategici a turni.Ben fatto, non troppo difficile e ottima storia che si sposa bene con la trama principale del franchise.Peccato per le secondarie un po’ ripetitive.

A splendid addition to the strategy genre
Overall, this is a great little game and highly recommended if you like X-Com style strategy games. If you don't normally play strategy games though but are a fan of Gears of War, then maybe try it out on Game Pass first if you're not sure you will enjoy it, as there is plenty of lore, weapons & enemy types from the Gears of War franchise here that will scratch an itch till Gears 6 eventually drops etc.LIKES:Presentation/Graphics - absolutely 1st class with cut scenes that are as good as the main Gears games and a variety of execution animations depending on what weapon your character is equipped with.Gameplay - excellent, it's different enough from X-Com 2 so that it feels strange to begin with, but after a couple of missions it becomes second nature. You start each round off with 3 Actions (more can sometimes be obtained either by skill buffs or team mates performing executions etc) and you can use them however you like in any order (except overwatch obviously, which will always end your characters turn) - shoot, move, throw grenade, use one of your skills, re-load, heal or overwatch. It's different enough from X-Com to make it feel fresh anyway.Story/Lore/Attention to Detail - as mentioned above, the weapons and locust enemy types will be a delight for any Gears fan and you can pick up dropped boomers or theron bows occasionally (although they only have limited ammo otherwise you would be too OP against the enemy). The story itself takes place prior to the original Gears of War games and the main character here is Gabe Diaz (father of Kate Diaz from Gears 4 & 5), haven't read the books so not sure if this is actual lore or a retconning to now try & make Kate the main protagonist in the franchise? Either way it's an ok story and you can even get the 'Cole Train' himself as a free DLC character, although he is not classed as a story character so is not present in cut scenes etc.BOSSES: The game is split into 3 Acts of differing lengths and each Act ends with a boss battle, these are a lot longer than normal missions as you whittle away the boss' health while not only combating their own weapons/actions but also dealing with additional enemies dropped or emerging from E-holes throughout the battle. I thought these are a nice addition to the game though - tough, but manageable.DISLIKES:TEAM MATES - unlike X-Com 2 where you can create your own squad, here you are stuck with the story characters (3 early game and 1 new addition in Act 3) and most main missions will task you with bringing one or more of them with you. Obviously this is a story driven game so that's understandable, however, it does make your own custom created characters a bit superfluous and there's not quite the connection to them that there is in X-Com. Also, the game gives you recruit-able characters throughout the game which just means you can swap out current custom team members for higher level ones, which renders building up a squad using any particular skill tree a bit redundant.Character Creation - another minor gripe, but the options for your custom characters are pretty basic as you can't select facial types, only haircuts & cosmetics (hats, tattoos, scars etc). Which is odd, as you can customise your weapon and armour colours extensively in comparison, from shiny new metal to scuffed & battle worn etc.Mission Types/Variety - while initially it seems there is a lot of variety in the main & side missions, eventually (as with all games in the genre) you will see the same mission types crop up over & over again. Mid-late game & post game side missions will up the ante though by giving you limiting parameters (such as no grenades allowed, no overwatches allowed, only 2 Actions each turn instead of 3, or limiting you to one character only etc etc) which will definitely give you a challenge late on.These are minor gripes though and shouldn't distract from what is an impressive debut strategy game & I hope there will be a Gears Tactics 2 down the road as this could be the start of a second/whole new Gears Franchise to accompany the main series.

Love Gears of War. This was a fun, unsung, creative take on the series.
As a Gears of War fan from 2006, I know my stuff about GOW. It's my absolute favourite gaming franchise.I 100% recommend Gears Tactics. It has been great to play through, and I am really happy that Gears went in a different direction with this one. It has been fun to play a new style of game, whilst keeping the original Locust enemy's & original Gears COG weapons that we love. It is post Hammer of Dawn Strikes, which is a really interesting time period in the game. I wish more Gears games went back into this era (like Shadow of RAAM did), rather than plod on into the rubbish new Kait era.Gears Tactics playstyle is in the style of XCOM, but I would say that it is more forgiving (at least at the level I'm playing at). XCOM makes me want to rip my own head off in frustration, whilst Gears Tactics has been a fun game to play with my girlfriend by my side, helping me, by giving tactical instructions. The character customization does leave a bit to be desired, for example you can't really create yourself and your mates like you could in XCOM, but once you get past that & work with the characters they give you, you can still change them around enough to get emotionally attached to your team. It's great to have the Robot JACK helping out, his skill tree is varied and his addition to the game has been one of my favourite parts! (He get's to rip a few doors too)!Voice Acting wise, I like them all except from Chairman Prescott, he's nothing like the glorious speech giving Chairman in GOW2 & he's nothing like the snivelling, yet heroic Prescott in GOW3...In GT he's just a monotone generic guy, I pretend he's not the same character and that makes it alright.Overall - BUY THIS GAME! It is so cheap considering all the fun memories I've made from it and I hope Gears of War continue down this path of creating fun new games with the franchise! You did a good job Gears Tactics Team, thank you!
