Compared to a Commercial Modulator
Added: Have been using for well over two years and still working perfectly. This product puts out a very good and clear picture when connected straight to a TV set. The modulator is hard to setup and the instructions are not clear. One review I read said you have to figure out how to set it up before you can understand the instructions. I think that is very accurate however I haven't figured out the instructions and I have it set up. I was able to make it work but not on the channel I wished to use. (eventually I think I'll get it). My home has a commercial modulator system with 16 channels in one location. I needed one more channel and decided to try this box because the commercial box would require a great deal of money. I would have to purchase another 16 unit system and install only one channel. So I decided to give this modulator a try. When I wired my home I had all TV cable wires terminate into one large closet. From there I can play a DVD or satellite or any other device and it feeds through my commercial modulator to a specific channel and then it distributes throughout the house. In this way if I am watching a DVD or a FireTV I can see it on every TV in the house at the same time by just tuning the TV to that channel. After many attempts to add this onto my system in different configurations I came up with a way to get this modulator to work. The modulator just does not have the power to modulate to more than one TV. By simply adding a 24db Distribution Amplifier which I purchased from Amazon I was able to make it work. ( I installed a smaller cheaper one which I also purchased from Amazon and it did NOT do the trick). I simply install the 24db Distribution Amplifier to the coax cable output on the modulator and then run the coax cable output on the amplifier to my system and SUCCESS! I can now see the picture as clear on the channel with this less expensive modulator as I can on my commercial modulated channels. For the money you can't beat it. Both my commercial modulator and this one are all analog but they work well (wish they would come up with a digital one at this price I would replace my whole system). Hope this helps!

Works GREAT - Poor instructions
It took me a while to figure it out, but once I did it works great. One description says output to channels 2 or 3. But the output can be set to any channel. First, press the Lock button to unlock the ability to change the settings. Then use the instruction sheet to find the channel group for the desired output channel. Press up and down to get the desired output channel. Note 03 is different than 3 — there’s a reference to this on the instruction sheet. Finally press the lock button again to lock the settings. I couldn’t find any instructions regarding the RF In port. After some playing I believe this port allows all channels except the selected one to pass through to the RF Out port. I have this configured so a TV antenna source is connected to RF In. The device is set to convert HDMI to RF Out channel 3. Then the RF Out becomes the input to a digital to analog TV tuner which then connects to my old analog TVs. Using the digital to analog tuner I can watch all the over-the-air TV channels. There’s a little interference, but if I power off the HDMI modulator (with a separate power strip with an on/off switch) the interference goes away. With the HDMI modulator on and the digital to analog tuner off, then the HDMI signal comes through to my old TVs nicely. Bottom line, this HDMI modulator works great for me.

Disappointing Quality and Poor Design, Only Useful as a Last Resort
I expected much better for the price. Configuring this device was a challenge, even for someone with experience. The construction feels cheap, with flimsy RF ports that are not only poorly made but also mislabeled—creating confusion because they are arranged backward on the board. Beyond that, it creates interference on other channels, making it frustrating to use in a broader setup. While it does manage to RF modulate an HDMI source and broadcast cleanly on the intended channel, the overall experience is disappointing. This product might work as a short-term solution in a pinch, but it's far from reliable for long-term use. I regret spending the money on it and would ask for a refund if I didn’t need it right now. As soon as I can afford a better option, I plan to replace it. I would not recommend this to others.

Make your old crt tv smart in a nostalgicly cool way.
Wanted to make my 30+ year old tv “smart”. Hooked this up to a coaxial to 2 screw antenna, then to coaxial cable, then to this modulator and finally to a ruku stick. After all that some cursing and frustration to get it to the right settings. Than some more cursing to remember all my passwords and finally I’m watching whatever I want on an old 13” color (barely) tv. Only negative is the picture is slightly off center. Nothing I can do about that. If you go this route, set your streaming device to lowest possible pic quality. 480 or 720 so the modulator doesn’t have to work as hard. Good luck!

Worked like a charm (after we figured out how)
We needed a converter to allow us to watch digital input from a cable box on an old CRT tv. The instructions were not clear and almost resulted in us returning the box out of frustration. However, after analyzing and trial and error, we finally got it to work. Here are our own instructions, specifically for connecting to our tv via a cable box (for anyone who needs a similar set up): Obvious: 1. Connect cable to cable box input 2. Connect hdmi cable box output to hdmi input on the converter 3. Connect coax from converter output to tv cable input 4. Plug converter box and cable box to power source Not so obvious: 5. Set tv to channel 3 or 4 6. Locate the button on the converter box labeled “CATV/TV/AU” and press it until it shows the same number as on your tv, 3 or 4 At this point we were good to go. Seems quite simple and probably even obvious, but took us a bit to figure out that little button was the critical factor.

Bell had changed my tv satellite service from SD to HD and I was no longer able to receive a signal on all my old tv sets I had set up with coax cabling and splitters throughout the house. A techno friend searched products on Amazon and recommended I try this modulator. It came before I expected it and in excellent condition. Was easy for a techno challenged person to set up and worked perfectly. I now have audio and video on my old SD tv's from the new HD Bell receiver. The picture is even better than with my old system.

The deivice does work but I can only get NTSC outputs. The information sheet inluded in the box does show there are PAL settings available but they are not available to me

Used to connect 2 older TV's to my new cable box that uses HDMI only. Easy to set up and did the job. Very happy with my purchase.

As many other reviews say, the document is terrible. I still have not figured out what N1 N2 N3 and N4 are, however, i put HDMI in and got a signal out on channel 3. the output is satisfactory, but I am used to NTSC, I amplify it and distribute to several televisions around the house. On a large high def TV it looks poor, ie menu text hard to read, on small tvs it looks fine. There does seem to be a slight lag between the audio and video. For the price it seems to be good value.
