Competitively priced, but a few caveats
So first thing, the tan anodized aluminum housing appears to be made with precise, quality machining. It's a nice looking finish on the outside. The rear part of the housing that holds the switches is made of plastic that doesn't quite match the color of the housing. Still, it's close enough. The nearest competition offer a similar light for more than double the price.I like that it shipped with a screwdriver for the mounting screw. I also liked the fact that it takes a rechargeable battery (came with a charger and cable) but can accept a CR123A sized lithium battery in case you need light and don't have time to let it charge. There are ambidextrous switches on either side, but they do not protrude backward into the trigger guard, so you will need to stretch a little to reach the switch. It has two modes, constant on and strobe. To activate strobe, you have to push the switch twice rapidly. This can be a little tricky to activate. But I don't know how often anyone ever will actually use the strobe feature, so no big deal. The light itself is plenty bright. So that's a plus. You won't have any issues seeing your target. They also thoughtfully included a spare O ring for the battery compartment under the LED housing, and 4 spare screws for mounting the optional 1913 rail block (also included). This is a good thing because the hex key they included is a very tight fit in the little screws. You might be better off trying several micro kex keys and torx bits until you find one that fits better, but I managed with the supplied key.So, what's not to like? Well I wish the back of the housing straddled the trigger guard a bit to put the switches closer to your finger. And using this light (while saving you a significant sum over some of the more well known brands) is going to require a custom holster. Will the price of a custom made holster offset any savings you get by buying a more obscure brand? I don't know, but it's something to consider. If you are mounting this to a gun that will be carried in a purse or bag, fanny pack, or other carry method that doesn't use a rigid, form-fitting holster, then this won't be an issue. Same goes if it is mounted to a rail on a long gun.I wish it had a quick detach mount instead of the screw. Changing the battery will have to be done either by removing the light from the gun first after making sure it is unloaded (tedious), or with it mounted to the gun after making sure it is unloaded (less safe).Overall though, I think it's a decent light if you are on a tight budget.
