Shockingly Wonderful!
I chose this book on a whim because I needed something to read, and Amazon tossed this suggestion my way. Thank you Amazon!!This was a very intriguing book that grasped my attention from the start, and forced me to read it in one sitting. The main character is gifted/cursed with the ability to see the age at which people will die, as it is displayed clearly on the side of their foreheads by their temple. Naturally, this character has a touch of melancholy and harbors some morbid thoughts, since she's constantly faced with the impending reminder of death. That being said, the book itself wasn't overly depressing, nor did it leave me feeling a sense of dread and despair.Assuming you read the synopsis, you have a pretty good idea of what to expect, so I'll add that there's definitely a thrilling sense of mystery as you wonder if this character is capable of saving someone she cares about.I was able to mostly predict the outcome, but I still thought it was very clever and beautifully well written. I will definitely read this again sometime!Highly recommended if you want a creative spin on a lesbian romance novel!

This book is both heart-warming and heart-wrenching in the best of ways. It makes you think long and hard on the concept of fate and they way our lives are affected by this seemingly all powerful force of nature.

I love nearly every book by Siera Maley that I've read ...
I love nearly every book by Siera Maley that I've read (and I've read all of them). The ones I don't love, I still like, a lot. This book is the first one I read by her and I was pretty hooked. I love the concept of the numbers and I love a gay protagonist who knows she's gay and is out about it. I myself have a pretty on again/off again relationship with panicking about my mortality so this book really jived with that part of me and the questions presented by knowing when people are going to die. I loved the characters, the story, the romance though at times it could be frustrating (in a good way) how much the protag resisted her feelings. However, I'm a bit disappointed that this gift wasn't further explored or explained. I'm happy with the ending, I found it very clever and also an intriguing concept, and I'm happy with the philosophical and existential questions, but I'm not satisfied in the slightest with the concept of having this ability and us never really learning anything about it, or it really having anything to do with the story except create conflict and tension. I understand it might be difficult to have someone say "I know when you're going to die" and have any capacity for that to sound believable, but a part of me had been looking forward to the execution of a scene in which Chloe comes clean about it. A part of me thought it would play more into the story line, and though I understand not knowing anything about it or being able to explain it is part of the point, I still had thought it would have been explored more. I wish it had been explored more. It's a small gripe over all because this story was still wonderful, so I would still 100% recommend it. I would recommend all of Siera Maley's books.

Just read this book
I read a lot especially wlw and while I don’t read as much YA I might be more inclined after this book. Long after the character names and specific scenes slip from my memory, the feeling of this book will stay with me for a long time. The dialogue was witty, the feelings felt real and the relationships between the characters were unique and flushed out. I haven’t heard of this author before but you can bet I’ll be looking for more work.

Lasting impression
The whole time I was wondering what was going to happen and that kept me intrigued. I liked the gradual build up, but there wasn’t enough fireworks in the relationship for me throughout. It was likable, readable, and entertaining.

This book is meant for teenagers just so all of the adults know. It's still very cute though.

Inevitable
Just like Harper you get yourself trying not to fall for Chloe, and falling anyway. Amazing history, and the characters. We need more lesbian novels like this, and we also need to appreciate and recognize the few ones we already have. Thank you Siera.

une très bonne intrigue
Excellent livre, un scénario et une syntaxe de qualité. C'est très prenant, original et intense à sa façon. Lu d'une seule traite.
