*3.5* stars! Very mixed feelings!
Six teenagers are invited to a dinner for getting selected for a scholarship. But, the scholarship dinner is a trap. Someone has locked them in a room with a bomb, a syringe filled with poison and a note saying they have to pick someone to kill or else everyone dies after one hour. All of them are good friends, who have messed up lives and have a bad past. They have to decide either to kill one or all have to die.Very mixed feelings about this book I must say. The mystery and suspense were at a LEVEL 10 till the end and I couldn’t keep the book down. But, the high level of mystery that was built up didn’t meet the End. I expected a more serious and shocking end but it wasn’t. I appreciate the fact that being a teenager I read this book because it was moreover based on a phase of life that every teenager faces. Even though it had ups and downs but I learnt something very important life lesson that is:It is human nature to be deceptive and hide your true colours until a climax comes. Never trust anyone in life.

A fun read
My first book by author Diana Urban was simply fascinating. The prose was perfectly Young Adult with each of the 6 characters leaving their mark on me. Every chapter revealed a facet of their lives bringing me closer to the truth. I would feel a strange giddiness in the pit of of my stomach as the deadline approached.Alternate chapters of past and present laid down the perfect synchrony of the action and the secret revealed. The author knew how to reel me in with a single swing. The prose made me react... I could feel my pulse spiking every few minutes. I was completely lost in the lives of these teens. The book was a perfect thriller where the secrets played hide and go seek with me.

A YA Thriller Mystery To Add To Your When In Isolation<3
(I Voluntarily reviewed an eARC of the book on For The Love of Fictional Worlds)Six teenagers invited to dinner with a chance to win a $20,000 and are then locked in the room, with the only way out is to follow the instructions left behind. Soon enough, the six teenagers start turning on each other by either choosing to kill amongst them; all the while secrets and betrayals are dogging their each decision. It’s easy to get sucked into a book with a plotline – especially when it is told in two timelines, the past and the present – the past is how we understand how these six teenagers reached the point in the present; for it is easy to see that the relationship amongst the six characters have changed drastically from the start of the school year to the end of this year. It’s easy to make your own snap judgements about the characters from the start; you know who you will be rooting for, the ones that you will like, and ones that will actually get on your nerves. So yes, it was easy to get hooked to the plotline. However, a sense of urgency that should underline this kind of plotline somehow wasn’t there. And the climax that should have had the surprise and shock didn’t actually get to me either. Yes, this was an entertaining read; but it was one that I was okay with not binge reading it within one single sitting!

BREAKFAST CLUB meets PRETTY LITTLE LIARS! UNPUTDOWNABLE!
❝ the thing about being trapped in a room with five other people, a bomb, a syringe of lethal poison is that at some point, shit's going down❞ -all your twisted secrets.nothing can beat the satisfying "sigh" after you finish a cozy thriller in one sitting(well two,in my case)😬 i absolutely loved this BREAKFAST CLUB meets PRETTY LITTLE LIARS locked room mystery and you would too if you are in the mood for a twisty mystery✋told between alternating timelines of their senior year and a one-hour countdown that brings them one second closer to death with every tick, all your twisted secrets brings to the reader, characters with their own dark secrets and how their selfish motives push them to their impending doom literally!!👀 i loved how Diana incorporated themes of bullying and importance of mental health to her story and portrayed how excess pressure often breaks a person. apart from them, it was impressive to see each of the characters fight for their passion and thus showing how academic competitiveness if taken in the positive way, can lead to success!! the language was easy and i easily found myself invested in the story, and past 50pages it was UNPUTDOWNABLE! i guess i was in need of some high school teen drama and so i loved how the story played out!

The choice is clear, pick one or you all go.
Urban has a really great sense of timing and pacing, each chapter leaves you wanting to know what happens next whether it's in the past or in the future.Seriously, this book was addictive, and as far as debut novels go, she's got me hooked!I couldn't stop reading and so I finished it one go, on Friday the 13th no less [Urban's not the only one with a great sense of timing, jk jk].Each character has their own reasons for being there, but is it because they did something wrong? And how easy is it to decide to kill someone you know? The choice is clear, pick one or you all go.Fantastic book, I don't want to write too long a review, it's a thriller, it's an escape/locked room, and there's six teens, one needle, and one bomb.

Super readable, good premise
I enjoyed reading the book, the characters are a little 2 dimensional, but the story (especially the flashback sections) is engrossing and moves along at a fair pace! The twist is good but unfortunately the final chapters do get a little messy. I can see that the author didn't want a neat 'happy ending' resolution, but I felt a bit confused and let down by the finale. A fun read for teens.

Keeps you Reading
The story is good and well written. The way it jumps between present day and the time leading up to the event keeps you reading and wanting to find out more. However, I only liked one of the characters and I guessed some of the twists. Most of the characters are really annoying and self centred. Aside from that this is a good book.

Not worth the hype
I got this as one of the tik tok recommendations, and to be honest I didn’t like it. It wasn’t what I thought it would be. Just a lot of unlikeable characters and although the twist was not expected it still was very unbelievable and unlikely. Not for me I’m afraid.

Brilliant
this was a book that i thoroughly enjoyed reading. Its honestly such an interesting concept in this book and that is one of the reasons i was drawn to it. The characters are relatable yet are thrown into a situation that you as the reader cannot imagine being in. Also the characters are very well written as i can think as multiple i know have that have similar characteristics to them. The ending definatly had my mind blown and would recommend this book to 13 and up. :)
