A Finely Knit Murder (Seaside Knitters Mystery)

Revenge Once Tasted is not Sweet
You might say I adore anything that Sally Goldenbaum writes when it comes to one of my favorite locations Coastal MA, and one of my favorite circle of friends that started with the first book, Death by Cashmere.Life is never quite settled when it comes to this crew despite all the wondrous things that take place in their constantly transitioning lives. But despite the occasional murder and mayhem there is the continuum of close woven relationships among this circle of friends. The latest involves the prickly philanthropist whose faux friendship breaks hearts and falls short of the mark leaving a trail of disappointments and pain along the way. Birdie Favazza's granddaughter, Gabby attends the Sea Harbor Community School, which offers enrichments of learning for most, and a charming Headmistress, Dr. Elizabeth Hartley. With the school , comes the Board made up of those who embrace what Elizabeth brings to their school and those whose rabid affection for Blythe Westerland border on the dark side of what power in the wrong hands can render. When tragedy strikes, it is, yet again up to the Seaside Knitters to unravel this whodunit. Need I say more..Not I, I will not impede your journey through this fascinating tale of love gone wrong or right and how all the knots in this twisted tale unwind.

A Great Read
This series continues to get better and better with each book written. I love the comfortable tone and how easily this book flows from chapter to chapter from scene to scene blending it all together to create a mystery that kept grabbed me immediately. The addition of Gabby is purely a delight and I like how she brings sunshine to these stories. What I enjoy best when reading this light and airy whodunit is the camaraderie between this ensemble cast that bridges the age gap from pre-teen to octogenarian. Iโm so mesmerized by the verbiage, the interactions, the feel-good atmosphere and the sense of friendship I feel as I read about the lives of the residents of Sea Harbor. This was a great read and I was not prepared for the flood of emotions reading the last chapter in this delightfully, heartwarming and charming tale. I canโt wait to see where we go next with my Izzy, Nell, Cass, Birdie and the rest of the gang in this well-written and wonderfully crafted series.

It kept my interest and, since Iโm a knitter, I enjoy the knitting patterns in the back of the book
I enjoyed the story and it held my interest

Warm and complicated mystery
This mystery became the story of a town caught in a human tragedy. The sins of the fathers are many times visited on their sons. I think the part that shone through was the sincere caring and love that helped the town get over its hurts. I enjoyed the book very much, though the first chapters were bewildering with all the characters. It was an intriguing mystery.

A good "cozy" murder
A good "cozy" murder, with good character development. I've come to really enjoy the community in which the characters live, and find the plot usually well developed. The only frustration I had with this book was the characters' frequent descent into maudlin drama over a "murderer in their midst". Given the fact that the characters regularly solve murders in their seaside town, their tiresome dramatic comments about their fears, insecurities and concerns were too oft repeated, and became a distraction. Otherwise, a good story.

Another good one!
I have been reading this whole series in order. They have all been true mysteries! I love all the characters and the town. This one had me puzzled up to the end! Great story, but I felt bad about the headmistress! Looking forward to the next one!

Another favorite
Sally Goldenbaum creates an interesting cast of characters. Even though I don't knit and intensely dislike most crafty "cozies", hers manage to be cozy without being mind-numbingly stupid. A lot of that has to do with believable - and likeable characters. An enjoyable story from start to finish.

Food & knitting. What could be better?
I wish I lived in Sea Harbour. Some one can teach me to knit or at least try. Food, knitting, and good friends and a mystery makes for an interesting book.
