As it says in the product title, it is water resistant (not waterproof; not sure why people are complaining about this as it is clearly stated). I have a 60lb damp farm dog that romps all over it and it has done a great job protecting the couch so far.

Bought a set for a double recliner chair, was able to nicely fold one arm flap under the seat portion and it worked well
