Different
Not a bad story, the characters were interesting,I'd certainly read the rest of the books if they were still available in KU but unfortunately they aren't and I didn't realise they weren't until I'd read the book.

Enjoyable
I like this book, but I'm 50/50 on reading more. I like story etc, I just don't like urban fantasy that switches so much between POV. i don't mind if it's critical information, but It seems to just tell the same story from different POV and I end up getting bored. I hope next book has less switch otherwise I might drop the series.

Is it just me, or is this a bit feminophobic?
This is a decent story, although rather unsubtle. However, when I read it there seems to be hints of creepy overtones in the background - and not the sort you want in a book. There's a secret elitist society of male-hating female wizards and one of them is trying to kill the lone, 'impossible' male wizard. (Why 'wizard' btw? Always thought that was a male gendered word if anything.) In general the female wizards have powerful positions in society and many of them are shown to be dismissive of men. What is the author trying to say here? If you reversed the genders this would be a typical young adult story where the heroine breaks free of societal restraints to show a kickass woman can be as good as any man. As it is, well, it feels like someone has a chip on his shoulder.

but the next ones are awesome. Action
I gave this five stars because of the series as a whole. This one is worth three stars, and is a little disjointed, but the next ones are awesome. Action, magic, fighting, all good. This was a slow start to a great series. Stay with it and be rewarded!

Easy read but basic
Basically your chosen one type book, with someone being a powerhouse out the door, being able to fight etc, aka good at most things. As a result it does make things and obstacles seem trivial most the time but if your looking for a relatively easy book to sink your teeth into and a fan of the genera, its not a bad way to go.

A good but short start to a series
A fun read, decent action and a good start at world building. There's likeable characters and I'm looking forward to the next book in the series. The story is a bit on the short side but not a problem at 99p.

Entertaining
Great story with a good pace. Story was well written with interesting characters. Made me want to read the rest of the series to find out what happens next.

Wonderful story
James E Wisher has a wonderful way to describe a new world and the characters. His story is mysterious, exciting, fast paced and the characters are complex. I really like the idea of Conryu and his fighting style of kung fu and all the wise speaking of his father. I really liked reading it and I am looking forward for the next one.

To many stories
The story and writing is good but the write uses maincharacters. In this way the story from the beginning is lost in the middle and that one is lost in the end.
