Copper plated. I believe all the Viski products are plated. Plating aside, their products are nice. Hope that helps?? Best, Paul

Is this strainer constructed as a single piece of metal or is it made from two separate pieces: a handle attached to the bowl?

The stem is a separate piece attached to the bowl. However the finish is excellent, as is the size and balance. It does not look cheap. I have only found one julep strainer constructed as a single piece: the julep strainer from Modern Mixologist.

does it have a hole on the end of the handle? (some photos show a hole, some don't)

No it does not. The hole is to enable you to put a straw through if using for an individual drink. Nothing I needed so, that is why I ordered this one.
