RCA DRC79982 9-Inch Mobile DVD Player with Additional 9-inch Screen (Renewed)

UPDATE ON EDIT: I decided to order this again (really it's hard to beat the price for under $40) and got a 2 year extended warranty through Acsurion (they no longer offered a warranty through Square Trade, which was disappointing, and Acsurion has mixed reviews but I am going to take my chances). The new player arrived and so far so good; it came with both players, 2 head straps, a USB cable to connect the 2 players, and the plug-in cord that goes into the cigarette lighter. This is a newer version from the one I received just over a year ago and I do like it better. What's different the cord that hooks the players together is a USB cord (before the cord was one cord with 4 connectors on each side) so the USB is much easier to deal with. Also the volume on both players is controlled by the main player (before both had volume controls). So hopefully these last longer than a year but if not then we'll be able to test out the extended warranty plan.EDIT: I purchased this in Jan 2019 and it quit working in Jan 2020. I do wish the player had lasted longer, but Square Trade is providing a hassle-free quick cash option to reimburse me and it is within $7.05 of the initial purchase. So far we've only used them on one trip but they worked great. I have not used the headphone jacks or remote yet.I do wish they came with a wall charger so they didn't always have to be plugged into the car which is why I have "battery life" 1 star instead of 5. Also, on the player that does not hold the dvd, the volume doesn't start working until it hits #12. It's plenty loud enough on #18 but I just thought that was odd so that's why I gave "sound quality" 4 stars instead of 5.If something changes with the quality, as some other reviewers reported, I will update this review.

Update 12/29/16I bought these DVD players and loved them at first. I use them probably 2-3 times a week. I've had these DVD players for a month and a half, and one of the DVD players only plays in black and white all of a sudden and nothing we do changes the picture back to colored. It's really disappointing because we really had such a positive experience until now.This has been a life saver for my family. We took our kids on a 7 hour trip with no issues thanks to this DVD player. All the cords needed came with it and so did the headrest attachment. The headrest attachment is literally a Velcro strip, but it works totally fine. The picture and sound quality is great. The power cord worried me because it looked small, but it fit perfectly. If you are buying this for a 3 row vehicle, you may need to buy a longer cord but as long as you have a normal 2 row vehicle it should do fine.

Cheap plastic and just looked used. 2nd monitor did not work. Live chat does not speak American English. After 2 LENGTHLY chat sessions, the issue is still not resolved. They sent me the wrong return label, the rep said she could not guarantee the replacement unit would work and the Asurion warranty company has not responded for days. Do NOT buy the additional headrest mounts as the unit comes with straps. The USB cord is VERY short so I had to go to Best Buy and fork out $28 for one that will stretch. Main screen did play a clear video but I can barely hear it. VERY disappointed in Amazon this time. The next time, I buy electronics, I will buy NEW and local-something a real salesman will show me and tell me how it works.

Very glad to have had this on a very long road trip. It does skip every once and a while, which can be quite annoying when it re-starts on the kids in the middle of their movie. I also really wish they had the volume control on the remote, what's the point of not being able to control that from the remote? I don't know if I'm missing something, but the second unit has no volume control at all and is extremely loud. For the price we paid though, I am quite happy with this purchase. It made a 18+ hour trip much more bearable for our little crew.

I like it but I did hate having to keep taking it in and out of the truck.but otherwise I love it. I give you five stars. Thank you.

Terrible. Didn't work. Bought two kindles instead with headrest holders. So much nicer and NO cords.

Having 2 kids under 3 plus a 7 year old and constantly taking 2 hour and longer trips...these are a lifesaver. Rarely ever skip if at all. The ONLY complaint I have is the ac adapter (plug I guess) got a short in it rather quickly. Other than that they're great!

The DVD player that holds the DVD’s was broken and I reached out and they were quick to refund me and get me a new one but the cases I bought to hold them in my car holds it shut so a refund wasn’t needed they work great with no issue so far! I recommend!
